Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Hard to believe we only have 3 weeks left of 2021 school year. Classes for 2022 are being finalised as well as staffing. COVID Learning Support will continue next year and I’m pleased to announce that Mr Bates will continue in the role as learning support teacher for next year. Nominations for 2022 captains and prefects have also been finalised and voting will take place next week. Captains and prefects will be announced at Presentation Day.
All students in Year 6 who have paid the full amount for their Chromebook will be able to take them home in a few weeks’ time. A reminder to all current Year 5 parents that end of year payments are due. Year 4 information regarding laptops for 2022 was sent home yesterday. If Year 4 parents have any questions about this program please don’t hesitate to contact the school. Please return all notes and consent forms to the office by the end of the year.
Intensive swimming starts next Monday for all Year 2 students and selected 3-6 students. If it is raining, lessons will still be on, they will only be cancelled if there is lightning. Please ensure all notes are retuned by the end of this week. Swimming lessons are free, however, pool entry money must be paid directly to the pool each day if you don’t have a season pass. Don’t forget swimmers, rashie, towel and sunscreen every day. Lessons will be taught by Let’s Keep Swimming instructors. Mrs Matic and Ms Laurie will be teachers in charge for Infants and Primary respectively. Primary swimming for sport will continue until the end of term. The cost is also $3.20 for an all-day pass or free entry with a season pass. Don’t forget your gear as well!
Thank you to everyone who has engaged in the Tell Them From Me Survey. There is only 3 days left to complete the survey. If you haven't already done so, can I please encourge you to click on the link below and complete as soon as you see this reminder, othewise you'll forget to do it. It will only take about 10 minutes, it's very easy to follow and provides valuable feedback to our school. Your participation is very much appreciated.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
Latest COVID-19 Advice
Level 3 Restrictions
Assemblies and presentations
Assemblies and presentations will be allowed outdoors on site. Cohorts should be separated with physical distancing in place where practicable.
Care must be taken to avoid mixing and mingling of cohorts when entering and exiting the assembly or presentation.
Fully vaccinated visitors (including parents and carers) are only allowed to attend if completing a specific role (such as presenting) and at the invitation of the school. All visitors must check in using the school check-in and show proof of vaccination.
Visitors and volunteers on site
Fully vaccinated visitors – such as volunteers, allied health partners and other external providers, and non-school-based Department of Education staff – are allowed on site to support curriculum delivery, wellbeing programs and school operations that maintain student cohorts. These include programs such as reading support, canteens, uniform shops and gardening.
School Banking Update
For 90 years, our School Banking program has helped children learn about money, reinforced the importance of regular savings and provided structure for parents to support their children to save.
Though the program continues to have strong support from schools, parents and teachers, recent decisions by some state and territory governments because of a review by the corporate regulator mean we are unable to continue providing programs in schools, and we have had to make a difficult decision to close our School Banking program for all government and non-government schools across the country.
Our School Banking program was established in 1931 at a time when having a bank account was not commonplace, and since then we have helped more than 15 million Australians take their first financial steps. This would not have been possible without the wonderful support we have received from schools like yours, including all the parents and volunteers, and for this we are deeply grateful. Thank you.
Even though this is a sad time, School Banking has taught so many young Australians, past and present, the value of money and we believe this should be celebrated. We have created a place for you to share your stories, fondest memories and lessons learnt through the program. To share your story and access our financial education resources, please visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
Even though the CommBank School Banking program will not be returning to your school after this year, you can continue to make deposits into your child’s Youthsaver account through online transfers or at any CommBank branch. If you need further information please phone 132 221 or visit your local CommBank branch.
The last School Banking day will be Wednesday 8th December 2021.
School Banking Co-ordinators will be able to order rewards for your students up to and including Wednesday 17th November 2021. This will allow for delivery and distribution of the rewards to your School Bankers prior to the program ending in December.
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be the chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week it is:
K/1 were very excited to make fabric chickens in Visual Arts.
We used a sewing machine with great care. Thank you to Mel Stanbury for donating the machine!
VAES 1.2 Experiments with a range of media in selected forms.
VAS 1.1 Makes artworks in a particular way about real or imaginary things.
All schools in NSW are operating under level 3 restrictions. We are implementing separate play areas for stages during breaks to reduce mingling and our enhanced cleaning arrangements will remain in place. It is important that we are even more vigilant with our hygiene than ever before. It is imperative that we continue to practice good hygiene habits, continue to be tested if displaying even the mildest symptoms and stay at home until a negative result has been given.
