Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
Wow, what an incredible 150 Year Celebration we all came together to create! This milestone event truly showcased the strength and spirit of our community, with so many people contributing in one way or another.
The weekend kicked off beautifully with the Welcome Cocktail Party, which set the perfect tone for the celebrations ahead. It was wonderful to see such a diverse group of attendees spanning all ages and eras from both schools. The atmosphere was warm and nostalgic, as many reminisced about the fond memories of “the good old days.” The food, drinks, and entertainment were superb and added to the joyful vibe of the evening. We extend our sincere thanks to the P&C associations of both schools for their generous support and contribution in making the cocktail party a memorable success.
The fete on Saturday exceeded every expectation! With over 500 people attending, the energy and enthusiasm were palpable throughout the day. Our school leaders did an excellent job as ushers, helping guests feel welcome and organised, while our school captains hosted the assembly with confidence and poise. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the performers and teachers who coordinated the class stalls—everything sold out, reflecting the hard work put in behind the scenes. We are also deeply grateful to parents for your generous donations and support, which played a crucial role in our success. Special thanks to our school P&C, coordinated by Breanna Bowd, Kylie Parker, and Suzie Nash, as well as all of our parent helpers who assisted on the day. In total, we sold over $4,000 worth of tickets—a fantastic achievement!
The celebrations wrapped up on Sunday with a high school brunch that attracted over 300 attendees. It was lovely to see so many people coming and going throughout the morning, sharing in the joy of this historic occasion.
Looking ahead, the Class of 2026 will begin their official orientation program tomorrow. This important four-week program is designed to welcome our new students and help them transition smoothly into school life. If you haven’t enrolled yet, it’s not too late—we warmly encourage you to get involved and join us in welcoming this new cohort. We can’t wait to see all their smiling faces!
Next week, our Year 3 students have an exciting excursion planned to the Wellington Caves. It has been a while since we last visited due to COVID-19 restrictions and cave closures, so this trip promises to be a memorable and educational experience. Please ensure all permission slips and payments are finalised by the end of this week to avoid any last-minute issues.
A big thank you to everyone who supported ‘Day for Daniel’ last week by dressing in red and helping raise funds for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Your generosity is very much appreciated. We raised $167 and a special thanks goes to Miss Rinaldo for organising this important event.
On a lighter note, I’m looking forward to having lunch with class 4/5 today as they were the winners of the PBL reward at our last assembly. I hope they enjoy the pizza, Juice Bomb, and Golden Gaytime treats we have planned for them!
Thank you again to everyone for making this week and our 150 Year Celebrations so special. Have a wonderful week ahead!
Kind regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

Child Protection Lessons
An important part of our Health and Personal Development curriculum will be Child Protection lessons. Child Protection is a mandatory area of study for all students in NSW Government schools. These lessons teach children in an age appropriate way how to recognise abuse or unsafe situations and learn strategies for keeping themselves safe. Please contact your child's class teacher if you would like more information.
Wear Red for Daniel Morcombe Day was last Friday 31th October and students raised $167.00 in gold coin donations to support this great cause. Held annually on the last Friday of October, Day for Daniel honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe. Parents, carers, and educators are encouraged to start a conversation with children and young people about personal safety. Our school will be conducting child safety education activities throughout Term 4 using the Daniel Morcombe program.
Under-16s social media age restriction legislation

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms will be required to prevent Australians under 16 from creating or maintaining accounts on certain age-restricted services. The changes aim to protect children from pressures and risks they can be exposed to while logged in to social media accounts.
The eSafety Commissioner is leading the implementation of the law. They are responsible for identifying platforms and supporting the community with information and resources.
Under-16s will still be able to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account. There are no penalties for young people who use age-restricted platforms or for their parents and carers as the responsibility is with the platforms.
We encourage you to access eSafety’s resources and support for families on their website and register for one of the upcoming webinarsExternal link for parents and carers.
Our Learner Qualities

We are proud to reintroduce our Visible Learning qualities, which are essential traits that empower our students to thrive both academically and personally. These qualities include:
I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
PBL Focus - CPS Wellbeing Program

The Resilience Project continued....

Is there a best time of day to practise gratitude, empathy, and emotional literacy?
These are strategies that can be practised any and every day, at any time of day.
If these concepts are new to you, building a routine to practise them can support wellbeing. Picking a time of day–for example, first thing in the morning or after dinner–can be helpful to create a new habit and give structure to your wellbeing journey.
An example of this could be having some GEM Conversation Cards in the car for the school drop off or pick-up or beside the bed for your child’s bedtime.
