Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
A huge thank you to all our P&C, parents/ cares and Ash “DJ” Kemper who helped organise, set up and attend our disco last Thursday night. It’s been 5 years since the last disco and the students were very excited to be part of the experience. Everyone looked great in their Hawaiian themed outfits. Thank you to all the staff who helped supervise and danced the night away!
Our school has entered 3 teams in the Rugby League Gala Day in Cowra today. Miss Dixon and Mrs Swords are supervising the group with the help of some experienced parents. I’m sure everyone will have a great day and rugby league will be the winner on the day.
Next Friday 5th April we will be holding our Primary Cross-Country carnival in the morning at the Canowindra Showground and the Infants' Cross Country will be held at school at 12:30pm. Permission for Primary XC has been sent out via the Sentral app, please make sure these have been submitted by next week. Spectators are welcome!
School photos are also coming up on Tuesday 9th April (last week of school). Please return envelopes to the office before school photo day. Students are required to wear their summer uniform. Please make sure students are in their best yellow shirt or school dress.
Easter is nearly here, and we are all looking forward to the gorgeous Easter Hat parade on Thursday. Students make the hats in class and then get to show them off in the hall as they parade around the other students and parents. Don’t forget to return your Easter raffle books. These will be drawn on the day by the P&C. There are great prizes to be won!
Three Way interviews will be starting next Tuesday after Easter Monday. Please make sure you have booked in a time to see your child/ren’s teacher if you haven’t already seen them this year. We will endeavour to meet with ALL parents by the end of term.
Have a great week and Happy Easter!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Kindergarten visit to preschool
Last Thursday, Kindergarten ventured out on their first excursion. We were invited to the preschool for morning tea and a play. Our students were very excited and were happy to return to preschool to visit their teachers to show them how much they've grown. We'd like to thank the preschool for having us and for providing yummy fairy bread and watermelon for us to enjoy.

On Tuesday, March 26th, our PSSA Cricket team faced off against Orange Public School, a challenging opponent. With the afternoon promising warm conditions, Orange Public School lost the toss, and we chose to bowl first. Observing their readiness, it was evident that Orange Public School was primed for a competitive game, reflected in their performance as they posted a total of 139 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 25 overs.
Following a brief interval, Canowindra Public School took to the crease, encountering formidable bowling from Orange. Despite efforts, including a commendable 21 runs by Sam Markcrow, our team was all out for 41 runs.
Despite the defeat on the scoreboard, our team demonstrated great heart and attitude throughout the match, with each player showing improvement. We extend our gratitude to the supportive parents whose presence and assistance contributed to the team's efforts.

The Resilience Project
Working on gratitude helps us to be thankful and appreciate what we have in our lives, rather than focusing on what we don’t have or what we want. When we practise being grateful, we start to scan the world to look for positives – this only takes 21 days! Practising gratitude every day increases our levels of energy, and helps us to feel happier and more focused, determined and optimistic. It even helps us have better sleep, lowers levels of anxiety and depression and we are less likely to get sick. So many benefits – let’s all try to be grateful for the things and people in our lives every day!
Whole Family Activity:
Gratitude Scavenger Hunt
- As a family create a scavenger hunt list of things that make you happy or you are grateful for, you can make your own list or use the examples below:
- Something that makes you happy
- Something you love to smell
- Something you enjoy looking at
- Something that is your favourite colour
- Something you like in nature
- Something that is useful for you
- Each member of the family uses the list and has to find as many things as they can.
- You can hunt for things inside or outside, or both. You can hunt for real things, or you can also do this using magazines or pictures from the internet.
- After a set amount of time hunting, come back together, have a look at what each person collected and let them explain why they are grateful for each item.
Family Habit Builder:
Every night at dinner, have each person talk about their favourite thing about that day.
