Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Swim School started this week, Year 2 and several Year 3 & 4 students are enjoying intensive swimming lessons for the next 2 weeks. Thankfully the weather has been kinder this week, let’s hope it lasts. Primary swimming for sport continues for the next 2 weeks, don’t forget to bring your swimming gear!
A huge thank you to all our parents who completed that Tell Them From Me survey, we had over 50 responses which is a third of our parent body. Results from this survey will be available early next year and I will share them with our school community, and they will determine future directions for our school in 2022.
As you will have seen in the media, the Teachers’ Federation is planning to strike for 24hrs next Tuesday 7th December. This is due to increased workload, teacher shortages and lack of counselling services to name a few. Our school will operate with very minimal staff and cannot guarantee adequate supervision. It would be very much appreciated if you could keep your children at home and support our teachers in providing the best education for our students now and into the future. A letter will be emailed to all parents this week.
Please be advised that the last day of school is Thursday 16th December. This will be a clean-up day, followed by a staff development day on Friday 17th December. School resumes for Year 1-6 on Tuesday 1st February 2022. Please see Upcoming events in our newsletter for all end of year activities and dates.
Thanks to the P&C for organising dinner at the Canowindra Hotel on Monday night, I look forward to seeing everyone there!
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Latest COVID-19 Advice
Level 3 Restrictions will remain until the end of the term.
School Banking Update
For 90 years, our School Banking program has helped children learn about money, reinforced the importance of regular savings and provided structure for parents to support their children to save.
Though the program continues to have strong support from schools, parents and teachers, recent decisions by some state and territory governments because of a review by the corporate regulator mean we are unable to continue providing programs in schools, and we have had to make a difficult decision to close our School Banking program for all government and non-government schools across the country.
Our School Banking program was established in 1931 at a time when having a bank account was not commonplace, and since then we have helped more than 15 million Australians take their first financial steps. This would not have been possible without the wonderful support we have received from schools like yours, including all the parents and volunteers, and for this we are deeply grateful. Thank you.
Even though this is a sad time, School Banking has taught so many young Australians, past and present, the value of money and we believe this should be celebrated. We have created a place for you to share your stories, fondest memories and lessons learnt through the program. To share your story and access our financial education resources, please visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
Even though the CommBank School Banking program will not be returning to your school after this year, you can continue to make deposits into your child’s Youthsaver account through online transfers or at any CommBank branch. If you need further information please phone 132 221 or visit your local CommBank branch.
The last School Banking day will be next Wednesday 8th December 2021.
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be the chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week it is:
K/1 were very excited to make fabric chickens in Visual Arts.
Year 2 have been learning about how families change over time in History. They have looked at a variety of photos and understand that these give them important information about how people change over the years. The class worked collaboratively in small groups to recreate poses from the old and new photos of families.
HT1-1 communicates an understanding of change and continuity in family life using appropriate historical terms
All schools in NSW are operating under level 3 restrictions. We are implementing separate play areas for stages during breaks to reduce mingling and our enhanced cleaning arrangements will remain in place. It is important that we are even more vigilant with our hygiene than ever before. It is imperative that we continue to practice good hygiene habits, continue to be tested if displaying even the mildest symptoms and stay at home until a negative result has been given.
