Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a very settled start to Term 3. It was great to see all students and staff get straight back into their routines with smiles on their faces, it was also pleasing to see so many students back at school; we were hit hard with illness throughout last term. Let’s hope we are through the worst of it!
I’m pleased to welcome back Mrs Howard on library and RFF, replacing Mrs Matic who has gone on maternity leave. A warm welcome to Miss Benjafield who is filling in for Mrs Swords on 3/4 while she is on long service leave. I would also like to officially welcome Miss Jo Rinaldo to our school as a permanent classroom teacher.
Individual NAPLAN results will be sent home today with your child. Please take the time to read through these reports. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the school.
This Friday our students will be participating in an NRL Rugby League Skills day where all classes will be participating in activities lead by the Central West Game Development Officer. By hosting this activity at our school, it will enable free after school sessions to be held at The Oval for all school aged children. More information will be sent out to all students.
Public Education Week is in Week 3. Once again, we will be opening our school on Friday 9th August at 12:15pm. All parents, carers and significant others are invited to attend. Our wonderful classrooms will be open from 12:15-1pm, followed by a free sausage sizzle for students, visitors and staff. At 2pm our P&C will be hosting our Colour Fun Run Decathlon Style (10 obstacles) to celebrate the Paris Olympic Games. Students are encouraged to dress up in their Olympic themed clothes for the afternoon, students can change into their outfits at lunch. Let’s hope the weather gods are kind to us, bring on the sunshine!
Kinderbounce, which is our pre-transition program for 5-year-olds, will begin on Thursday 15th August for 4 weeks. Information re. this special transition program has gone out to all prospective families via Pre School and other outlets. Please see information in the newsletter.
Year 4 Blue Mountains excursion will be occurring this term. This will be held on 10-11th September. The cost will be approximately $300. More information will be sent out in the next few weeks and payment plans can be set up.
Finally, our biannual school concert will be held at the end of the term on Thursday 26th September. There will be a matinee and evening performance. Put it on your calendars and we’re all looking forward to showcasing our great talent!
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Our Learner Qualities
The Resilience Project - Gratitude
Some benefits of practising gratitude are:
- After 21 days, you start to scan the world for positives.
- After 42 days you become:
- More optimistic, energised & focused.
- Less likely to get sick.
- You will sleep better.
- Anxiety and depression decreases.
A few quick and simple ways to practise being grateful are:
- Journaling; each night write down 3 things that went well for you that day or purchase a gratitude journal with gratitude prompts.
- Write a gratitude letter to someone special, telling them why you are grateful they are in your life.
- Have a family discussion on the way home from school or around the dinner table about the things that went well that day or made you smile.
You can purchase 21-day, 6-month, and family journals from The Resilience Project website if that is something you’re interested in.
