Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Hopefully everyone is staying warm during these frosty cold mornings we have been enduring this week, although it’s lovely to see some prolonged sunshine! Ms Laurie and several of our Stage 3 students had an early start on Monday morning participating in the Todd Woodbridge Cup (tennis) in Cowra. From all accounts everyone had a wonderful day and enjoyed their experience.
Today is National Tree Planting Day and Miss Benjafield’s class will be planting trees at the South Canowindra reserve on Friday. If any parents from this class are willing and able to help out, you are more than welcome to come along. Permission and information were sent out yesterday via the Parent Portal App.
Education Week is next week, and we have a huge day planned for Friday 9th August. Additionally, most of the week we will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair in the canteen area. Books can be purchased from Tue - Thurs mornings from 8:30-9am and Friday from 12:15-2pm, all profits will go toward our school library. Our Open Day will commence on Friday at 12:15pm. Parents/ carers, relatives and significant others are all encouraged to see our wonderful classrooms and the work the students have done throughout the year. This will be followed by a free sausage sizzle at 1pm, where visitors can join us for lunch. At 1:30pm our school counsellors will be available for a meet and greet in the hall. Then the P&C Colour Fun Run will start at 2 pm. Students can change into their white shirts at lunch and they will be running around the decathlon obstacle course. It should be a fantastic day.
Please make sure you complete the survey for our Game Changer Challenge. Our Stage 3 team, the 'Cano Yabbies,' has reached the semi-finals of the NSW Government's Game Changer Challenge and would appreciate your input. See link in the newsletter.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Todd Woodbridge Cup
On Monday, eight Stage 2 students went over to Cowra to play in the Todd Woodbridge Cup. The weather was perfect for tennis and the students were really excited to play. Five other schools participated in the day with varying levels of tennis experience. Some of our students have played tennis before but a number of them hadn’t. The difference between the beginning of the day to the end was incredible. All the students gained confidence throughout the day and their skills improved out of sight. They played 6 games of tennis against the other schools and they all showed fantastic sportsmanship. Taliesin Bullock got a special mention and certificate for the sportsmanship he displayed. Well done to all the students! Thank you also to Emma Greenhill who helped transport the students over.
