Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
The weather is forecast for fine and sunny for our Open Day and Colour Fun Run this Friday. Level 1 gates (Belmore and Tilga St) will be open at 12:15pm for parents/ carers to attend our open classrooms. Parents/ Carers, relatives and significant others are encouraged to come and see our wonderful classrooms and the work the students have done throughout the year. This will be followed by a free sausage sizzle at 1pm, where visitors can join us for lunch. At 1:30pm parents are invited to meet and greet our School Counsellors in the hall and then the P&C Colour Fun Run will begin at 2 pm. Students can change into their white shirts/olympic colours at lunch.
I’m pleased to announce that Mrs Matic welcomed a little boy into the world yesterday. Mum and bub are doing very well and we are looking forward to meeting him very soon.
Miss Benjafield and 3/4 had a very productive day last Friday planting trees. This is becoming a regular event at our school and we are very grateful for Cowra Landcare and Cabonne Council for helping us plant the trees and providing us with the seedlings.
Several of our Year 6 students have returned from Stewart House after 2 weeks at Curl Curl Beach enjoying all the sights and sounds that Sydney has to offer. Our students had a great time with 44 other students from Orange/ Lachlan NSW Public Schools. As the coordinator of the program, it gives me great pleasure organising this opportunity for students from Cowra to Condobolin and all the school in between.
District athletics will be taking place in Cowra next Friday 16th August. A bus has been organised to transport the 45 students to this event. All students are required to pay for the bus regardless of travel arrangements. Permission and payment is via the Sentral Parent Portal app.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday, have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
Principal

Schools Tree Day
On Friday the 2nd of August, 3/4 had the opportunity to take part in 'Schools Tree Day' following National Tree Day on Sunday the 28th of July. The students learnt about the importance of trees to the ecosystem, specifically life around gum trees, and how to plant trees successfully. They then had the opportunity to each plant their own tree at the South Canowindra Reserve. It was a great afternoon of learning in the sun!

Did you know ….
80% of our happiness is derived from:
● Friendship.
● Health.
● Work fulfillment.
● Loving relationships.
● Spirituality.
When you do something kind for someone else your brain releases the love hormone oxytocin. This makes you feel good too. Check out Martin Heppell from The Resilience Project talking about being kind and the benefits of kindness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO-ja3h5INc
