Week 10 Term 4 Newsletter 2021
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Swim School has been a great success and we saw lots of students improve over the last week and a half. Please try to keep up the swimming after Swim School finishes on Friday, as it will make a huge difference to each child’s confidence and ability. A huge thank you to Mrs Matic and Mrs Laurie for their wonderful tuition and organisation as well as Brooke and India in the pool.
Year 6, class teachers and I have headed off to Lake Burrendong this morning, I’m sure we will have a great time and there’s plenty of water in the dam this year, so hopefully we get to go canoeing. Tomorrow Year 6 will converge on the Bathurst Aqua Park and then finish up at school on Friday for the Colour Fun Run. The rest of the school gets to practice moving up to the next grade in readiness for 2022.
Invitations to parents/ carers for next Tuesday’s presentation day were sent home via email today. Due to Covid-19 there can only be 2 parents/ carers permitted for each family receiving an award. If one or two parents cannot attend another person/s can attend in their place, however children under school age are not permitted to attend. All adults must show proof of vaccination upon entry. Infants’ assembly will start at 9.30am and Primary will start at 12pm.
Reports will be sent home next Monday. Considering the disruption to the latter part of the year, I’m very pleased with everyone’s results and growth. The government will continue to fund COVID Learning Support for an additional school year. Again, we intend to cater for small group instruction right across the school and I’m hoping to target all students with this funding next year. If you would like to see your child’s teacher before the end of the year, please call the office to arrange an appointment.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

School Banking Update
For 90 years, our School Banking program has helped children learn about money, reinforced the importance of regular savings and provided structure for parents to support their children to save.
Though the program continues to have strong support from schools, parents and teachers, recent decisions by some state and territory governments because of a review by the corporate regulator mean we are unable to continue providing programs in schools, and we have had to make a difficult decision to close our School Banking program for all government and non-government schools across the country.
Our School Banking program was established in 1931 at a time when having a bank account was not commonplace, and since then we have helped more than 15 million Australians take their first financial steps. This would not have been possible without the wonderful support we have received from schools like yours, including all the parents and volunteers, and for this we are deeply grateful. Thank you.
Even though this is a sad time, School Banking has taught so many young Australians, past and present, the value of money and we believe this should be celebrated. We have created a place for you to share your stories, fondest memories and lessons learnt through the program. To share your story and access our financial education resources, please visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking
Even though the CommBank School Banking program will not be returning to your school after this year, you can continue to make deposits into your child’s Youthsaver account through online transfers or at any CommBank branch. If you need further information please phone 132 221 or visit your local CommBank branch.
The last School Banking is today Wednesday 8th December 2021.
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be the chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week it is:
The second week of the School Swimming Scheme is well underway, students are gaining confidence with each lesson!
All schools in NSW are operating under level 3 restrictions. We are implementing separate play areas for stages during breaks to reduce mingling and our enhanced cleaning arrangements will remain in place. It is important that we are even more vigilant with our hygiene than ever before. It is imperative that we continue to practice good hygiene habits, continue to be tested if displaying even the mildest symptoms and stay at home until a negative result has been given.
