Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Wow, Week 5 already! Some of you may be aware that it is Book Week and many school are dressing up. We hold our book parade every 2 years, so parents you are ‘off the hook’ for this year! In the library all our students have been exposed to the CBCA Book Council shortlisted books and we are hosting Meerkat Production at our school in a few weeks’ time to present one of the shortlisted books called ‘Timeless’. This incursion is free as it is part of our Book Week celebrations, all be it a few weeks later.
Congratulations to all our athletics competitors who represented our school in Cowra on Friday. We had lots of PBs and over half of our students advance to Western Region Trials to be held in Dubbo. Well done to Noah Grey for being awarded Junior boy champion and to all our relay teams for making to Western. We also had many students go through in field events which I think is testament to our very own local training camp that occurs at The Oval every week. Great achievement by everyone, well done!
NAPLAN results have been out since the beginning of the term, hopefully parents have had time to decipher the reports and contact the school if you had any questions or clarifications. Once again, we have done exceptionally well in all domains, particularly Numeracy where we are above state in Year 5 and just below state for Year 3 but well and truly above similar schools. Our 2023 report card for NAPLAN from Year 3-5 is excelling and for Year 5-7 is sustaining and growing. This can be attributed to our outstanding teachers and the solid programs that we have in place at our school. Well done everyone! A reminder that Check In assessment starts next week for all of primary. This will go for the next 3 weeks in the morning session in the hall, please ensure your child/ren arrives before 9am.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of watching our Game Changer Group participate in the next round of semifinals. This was a great experience for all involved and I’m looking forward to seeing if we have made it through to the next round.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Check-in Assessments
Students in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be completing the Check-in assessment over the next few weeks. The check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online reading and numeracy assessment. Students in Year 6 will also complete a writing assessment. Student are required to use headphones for the assessment. If your child has a set of headphones or earbuds that plug into a computer, we ask that they please bring them to school in Week 6, 7 and 8.
Game Changer Challenge Semi Finals
On Tuesday, August 20th, our Game Changer Challengers—Finn, Indie, Zoe, Joey, and Harvey—participated in the Virtual Semi-finals of the Game Changer Challenge. They engaged in a variety of activities, including brainstorming and selecting a champion idea to address a significant problem in our community. The team delivered a compelling presentation to schools across NSW, as well as to major organisations like UNICEF and Macquarie Bank. Their champion idea focuses on enhancing educational outcomes in rural communities by increasing access to cutting-edge technology through the creation of a community technology hub.
We are very proud of our Game Changer Challengers!
