Week 10 Term 3 Newsletter 2024
Principal's Message
We have made it to the end of Term 3 and what a great term we have all had! Students and staff have thoroughly enjoyed the last week of rehearsals and performances. The students have willingly participated and taken on feedback to improve their performances, and we are all looking forward to the big day and night on Thursday.
A reminder to limit immediate family only to the evening performance. We have plenty of seats for the matinee show and encourage extended family and friends to attend this session. If you are bringing children under 4, they will need to sit on parents’ laps. The front gates on Level 1 (Tilga and Belmore St) will be open for students and parents to enter on Thursday at 5:30pm. The students are to go straight to their classrooms and parents can proceed to the hall. These gates will remain open until after the performance. The weather is also predicted to be wet and raining, so please bring appropriate clothing as the hall will be open from the back. Don’t forget to give permission for your child to attend the performance on Thursday night via Sentral.
We have also been very busy putting together our annual Canowindra Show display with help and guidance from Mrs Townsend and her Science classes. The display is up in the pavilion and looks fantastic. Please take the time to visit on Friday or Saturday. Our P&C is also helping on the gate, so if you would like to give a half an hour of your time, please contact our P&C via Facebook.
All students can wear mufti on Friday as part of their PBL reward and it’s also the last day of school. Please ensure students wear sensible shoes and SunSmart clothing.
We are already looking forward to Term 4, with the calendar filling fast. An important part of our Health and Personal Development curriculum will be Child Protection lessons. Child Protection is a mandatory area of study for all students in NSW Government schools. These lessons teach children in an age-appropriate way how to recognise abuse or unsafe situations and learn strategies for keeping themselves safe. Please contact your child's class teacher next term if you would like more information.
Have a great week and enjoy the holidays! See you all on Monday 14th October, there is no SDD at the beginning of the term.
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Free Home Internet for Eligible Families
The Australian Government’s offer of free home internet until 31 December 2025 is still available for families with school aged students who have not had an active nbn® network internet service in the previous 14 days through its School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI).
Families can check their eligibility by following these simple steps:
- Contact the National Referral Centre (NRC), operated by Anglicare Victoria, on 1800 954 610, visit their website or email them at studentinternet@anglicarevic.org.au.
- The NRC team will assess the family’s eligibility for the SSBI, including a check of their residential address and current financial situation.
- If eligible, the family will be issued a voucher which can be redeemed at any of the participating SSBI retail service providers. The NRC can also assist with contacting the SSBI internet provider of choice or providing follow-up support.
The NRC is set up to answer questions, assess eligibility, issue vouchers and provide information regarding participating retail service providers. Centre staff can also provide follow-up support for anyone experiencing challenges redeeming the voucher.
For people from non-English speaking backgrounds, or people with accessibility requirements, the NRC can offer translation services through Language Loop. Their website is also equipped with ReciteMe technology.
Families and carers can apply until 31 December 2024. Eligible households will receive free home internet until 31 December 2025.
