Week 2 Term 4 Newsletter 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Well done to everyone on a great start to Term 4. It is great to see all our students in their school uniform including black shoes and school hat. Thank you to all parents for your commitment to our uniform policy and making sure your child is in uniform.
Next Tuesday 29th October, Musica Viva will be visiting Canowindra. Baroquefest and Canowindra PS has fully subsidised the excursion to the Canowindra Services Club for our students to see the performance. Please see flyer in the newsletter and permission is via the Sentral app. It’s always a wonderful show and students will get to experience the power of live music.
Year 6 parents received information about Burrendong Sport and Rec Camp excursion this week. Registration needs to be completed before we send out our permission notes. Please complete before the end of October.
A friendly reminder to complete the parent Tell Them From Me (TTFM) survey which opened last week. This is an important survey for our school as it gives parents, teachers and students a chance to provide important feedback about our school. It would be very much appreciated if parents could complete the survey via this link: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/can24
Our annual school fete is next Friday 1st November. Teachers and students are busily preparing for their class stalls and our P&C is also planning a wonderful array of activities and food including meal deals, coffee cart, slushies, Alikinetic and a visit from our emergency services.
This year our students will be required to purchase tickets for the class stalls. They will be $1 per ticket and most stalls range from 50c - $5. This can be done via Sentral for Parents app and there will be ticket sales via the school office to allow for additional tickets to be purchased on the day. Students can order a meal deal from the P&C before the day which will be delivered to their classes before the fete begins at 12:30pm. A hard copy of the meal deal flyer will be sent home today. There will be additional food available for adults to purchase via cash from the P&C at the canteen. We’re looking forward to seeing as many families and friends as possible, it’s always such a fun day and the students love participating in all the activities on the day.
Happy World Teachers Day on Friday to all our wonderful teachers! And don’t forget to wear RED for Day for Daniel!
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Child Protection Lessons
We are already into Term 4, with the calendar filling fast. An important part of our Health and Personal Development curriculum will be Child Protection lessons. Child Protection is a mandatory area of study for all students in NSW Government schools. These lessons teach children in an age appropriate way how to recognise abuse or unsafe situations and learn strategies for keeping themselves safe. Please contact your child's class teacher next term if you would like more information.
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week our class is : Kindergarten

Our Learner Qualities
The Resilience Project - Parent/ Carer video series
Throughout 2024, we have been working closely with The Resilience Project to support the wellbeing of our school community.
The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs and provides evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience.
Our Partnership Program consists of online presentations and weekly lessons for students, professional development for staff, and Parent & Carer Hub (inc. digital presentations) for our parent and carer community.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing the Parent & Carer Hub with you. The videos are 5-10 minutes long and will walk through the key pillars of resilience: Gratitude, Empathy & Mindfulness. You’ll hear stories and be introduced to activities to show how these strategies can support our kids' learning and development, and also support you as parents and carers.
This program is an important part of our school’s effort to look after the mental health of our community.
View the first presentation of the series here:
