Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
The term is flying along, and students are consolidating their learning in readiness for the year ahead. I’d like to welcome Mason Ruzgus from the University of Newcastle who is doing his third year prac on 3/4B for the next 4 weeks. He’s fitting in very well and getting to know all the students.
Wow, what another wonderful fete we had last Friday!. A huge thank you to all our classes for putting together great stalls for all the students to participate in, some kept them busy for hours. To our amazing P&C and parent helpers for organising the meal deals and other attractions on the day including Alikinetic, Age of Fishes and NSW Rugby Union, thank you for your time. The office sold $2112 in tickets and all proceeds will go back into the school. SAVE THE DATE: Next year our Fete will coincide with our 150-year celebration of Public Education and Back to Canowindra weekend on Saturday 1/11/25, More information to come next year!
The Tell Them From Me Survey closes this Friday. Thank you to the 12 parents who have completed it so far, we really appreciate your feedback. A friendly reminder to our other parents to complete as soon as possible, we would prefer to have many more responses. All surveys are completely confidential, and it only takes about 5 -10 minutes: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/can24
This Friday is School Counsellor and School Psychologist Recognition Day and I’d like to publicly thank them for the work they do at our school. Nicole Valese is replacing Meg Coleburn for the rest of this term, and she will be at our school on Fridays. Lang Watkin will continue to do 2 days per term as needed.
Our Peer support leaders are looking forward to the whole school Peer Support excursion next Tuesday 12th November. There are still 30 students who haven’t been given permission and money has not been received. Please ensure this is done by Monday at the latest. Staff will not have time to chase this up on the day. Additionally, the Year 3 excursion to Cowra is next Thursday and this needs to be finalised early next week. Mrs Swords and Ms Laurie have planned a wonderful excursion to Cowra to visit the tourist information centre, Japanese Prisoner of War Camp and the adventure playground,
Don’t forget that assembly is Thursday this week due to changes in routine on Friday. Gecko Sport will continue to run Ultimate Frisbee on Friday.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Health News
A friendly reminder to all parents/ carers to keep your children home from school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: temperature, fever, rash, excessive coughing, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. These are all indicators that your child is unwell and can be contagious which will spread a bacteria or virus to other students and teachers. Thank you for your understanding.

The Resilience Project - Gratitude
This week’s presentation from The Resilience Project focuses on Gratitude.
Gratitude is paying attention to the things that we have right now, and not worrying about what we don’t have. We practise this by noticing the positives that exist around us.
Research shows that practicing gratitude rewires our brains to overcome the negativity bias (which can lead to anxiety and depression) and see the world for what we are thankful for. It is also shown to broaden thinking and increase physical health through improved sleep and attitude to exercise.

There are many ways in which you can practise gratitude, including starting a gratitude journal. You can simply use a notebook to list three things that went well for you each day, or use a more comprehensive Wellbeing Journal, like those created by The Resilience Project.
