Week 11 Term 4 Newsletter 2021
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fabulous way to end the year. Last Friday was the P&C Colour Fun Run. This was a wonderful day which was split into two sessions of Infants and Primary. There was lots of laughter and frivolity and the Year 5 students did an amazing job of planning and organising the obstacle course around the school. School reports were sent home on Monday. We were able to use our Covid report which we received positive feedback about in last year’s Tell Them From Me Survey. The reports are succinct and includes learning goals for next year. Our intention is to have 3 Way Interviews in Term 1 which will link in with these goals.
Yesterday we held our Presentation Day assemblies for Infants and Primary. Students have been rewarded for their effort and application throughout the year. Thank you to all the parents/ carers for abiding by our Covid safe rules, we were please to be able to invite you. Today is Christmas mufti day, with all students and staff getting into the spirit of Xmas and everyone looks festive! Today will culminate in class parties and general farewells. Tomorrow is our last day for students and this will be our “clean up” day. Friday is a Staff Development Day and staff will be completing mandatory training in readiness for 2022.
Our permanent and temporary staffing for next year remains relatively stable. I’d like to welcome Ms Lauren Toovey who has been appointed to our school as Assistant Principal Curriculum & Instruction at the beginning of 2022. Lauren will be working with all staff and students to improve student outcomes in literacy and numeracy. Mr Bates will continue as our COVID LS teacher and Mrs Bowden will continue on 4/5 while Mrs Howard is on maternity leave. Miss Benjafield from Griffith PS will replace Mrs Pearce who will be taking leave next year.
I think we are all ready for a break and some time to rest, reflect and refresh from another eventful year. I sincerely thank you all for your support and understanding as we have navigated the ebbs and flows of 2021. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and hope that you can spend some special time together with family and friends. Enjoy the summer holidays and we will see Year 1 – Year 6 on Tuesday 1 Feb. Kinder 2022 will have Beststart interviews on 1-2 Feb and will start “big” school on Thursday 3Feb.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Have a great holiday!

Latest COVID-19 Advice
From Term 1, 2022 we expect restrictions to ease. The department’s layered COVID-safe measures will remain critical in protecting the health and safety of our students and staff, and minimising disruption to schools. This includes enhanced cleaning, hygiene and ventilation arrangements in schools, as well as the vaccination mandate for all school staff (including volunteers) and strong encouragement for all students to be vaccinated.
Schools can expect to continue to use cohorting arrangements to reduce the effect of potential COVID-19 transmission.
The department expects the current rapid antigen home testing ‘test to stay’ program to continue in 2022, pending further advice from NSW Health.
Many activities which have been restricted or not allowed this term (including inter-school sports, singing and playing wind-blown musical instruments, and school camps) will return in a COVID-safe way for Term 1 2022. The department will develop COVID-safe guidelines based on the latest public health advice and support schools to seek parental consent for students participating in these activities.
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be the chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week it is:
Primary Pool Party !!!!
Colour Run !!!
Well done to Indiana Millar - highest individual fundraiser, with $6,500.00 raised by CPS
Burrendong - Year 6 Day 1
Bathurst Aqua Park - Year 6 Day 2
All schools in NSW are operating under level 3 restrictions. We are implementing separate play areas for stages during breaks to reduce mingling and our enhanced cleaning arrangements will remain in place. It is important that we are even more vigilant with our hygiene than ever before. It is imperative that we continue to practice good hygiene habits, continue to be tested if displaying even the mildest symptoms and stay at home until a negative result has been given.
