Principal's Message

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and enjoyed the beautiful weather! It was delightful to see some rain fall last weekend, refreshing our surroundings. A heartfelt thank you to all the students and staff who participated in the ANZAC Day parade—you were all incredible and truly represented our school with pride. I’m looking forward to doing it all again at the Balloon Parade this Saturday!
A special shout-out to Canowindra PS P&C for organising a wonderful trivia night to kick off the Balloon Festival on Monday! With over 100 attendees, there were great prizes and lots of fun as everyone put their “grey matter” to the test—some more successfully than others! A big thank you to Suzie Nash for her fantastic job as MC, keeping the evening on track. Well done to everyone involved; it was another tremendous success!
It was wonderful to welcome all our students back to school today after a refreshing two-week break. Our staff engaged in two Staff Development Days on Monday and Tuesday, focusing on professional learning in High Potential Gifted Education (HPGE). This time together allowed us to learn and plan how to nurture talent development across the Intellectual, Physical, Social and Emotional, and Creative domains. We believe that every student has potential, and it’s our collective mission to harness and nurture that!
We have an exciting start to the term ahead, with the 150 Years Book Launch for Years 5 and 6 at the high school on Thursday (permission required asap), our School ANZAC Service, athletics running events, and the Mother’s Day Stall all happening in the first two weeks! Please check the Sentral Parent App for all upcoming events and information.
I’m also thrilled to announce that our Before and After School Care, now known as OOSH, is up and running! I’m pleased to introduce Eve Seale as the coordinator and educator. Eve has previously worked at a larger centre in Wagga while completing her Bachelor of Education. She is eager to build enrolment numbers to ensure this vital service continues, so thank you for your support!
Wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!
Warn regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

Attendance Matters!

Every day counts, as regular attendance helps students to:
- develop a sense of belonging
- develop and maintain friendships
- be more engaged at school
- progress with their learning
- be more aware of career and life options.
Our Learner Qualities

We are proud to reintroduce our Visible Learning qualities, which are essential traits that empower our students to thrive both academically and personally. These qualities include:
I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
PBL Focus - CPS Wellbeing Program

The Resilience Project continued....

What does the program look like in the classroom? What will my child be doing?
● Your child(ren) will complete a variety of activities that introduce them to The Resilience Project’s key principles of Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy.
● The activities will give them a chance to practise these concepts, individually and in groups.
● Students will be encouraged to develop positive wellbeing habits by practising these concepts on a regular basis outside of their TRP lessons.
