Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
As winter is right around the corner, we want to ensure that all school clothing is clearly labelled. We’ve noticed a growing collection of lost property, and we’d love your help in making sure it can be returned to our students. A quick check to confirm that everything is labelled correctly would be greatly appreciated!
A huge shoutout to our cricket team for their fantastic effort in Bathurst against Perthville PS on Monday! While they didn’t take home the win this time, they faced a strong opponent and showed great competitiveness, setting a positive tone for next year. Well done, team, parents and Ms Toovey for all your support throughout the cricket season!
We also want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Jack Daly for earning a spot on the Western Rugby Union team, which will compete in the State Finals in Newcastle later this year. We know you’ll represent our school with pride!
Looking ahead, the District Cross Country event is happening this Friday in Boorowa. The bus will be leaving promptly at 7:30 am, so please ensure all students are at the bus bay a little earlier. Miss Dixon and Ms Laurie will be there, excited and ready to cheer everyone on! You can find all the details about the event in the attachments on the Parent Sentral app. Just a friendly reminder that we still have some outstanding permissions and payments for this event. Cross Country carnivals usually go ahead even if it rains, so please be prepared for all weather conditions!
Also, if you receive any text messages regarding student absences, please remember to reply. Your response is free of charge and goes directly into Sentral as an explained absence. It’s important to respond within 2 weeks of the absence, as unaddressed absences will be marked as unexplained and cannot be changed.
Finally, please ensure that you’ve granted permission for all excursions in Sentral and that payments are up to date, especially for events that have already taken place.
Thank you for your cooperation! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
Kind regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

PSSA KO Cricket
On Monday, 12th May, the Canowindra Public School cricket team travelled to Learmonth Park in Bathurst to take on Perthville Public School in what proved to be a memorable and spirited match. With the sun shining and excitement in the air, Captain Sam Markcrow won the toss and chose to bowl first. The team hit the field full of energy, with their chants and cheers echoing around the park, boosting team morale. Every player gave their all with the ball and in the field, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship. Their combined efforts saw Perthville bowled out for just 86 runs in the 24th over—a brilliant achievement! After a quick turnaround, Canowindra stepped up to bat, facing a strong and accurate pace attack from Perthville. Despite the challenge, our batters stood their ground, called loudly, and ran hard between the wickets. In the end, we were bowled out for 55 runs—a solid effort that reflects the determination and improvement shown by all players throughout the season. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all students who have dedicated their time and effort to cricket this year. A special mention to our six Year 6 students who are heading off to high school next year—thank you for your leadership and enthusiasm on and off the field. Most importantly, we extend our deepest gratitude to the parents who have volunteered their time to transport students, assist with scoring, umpiring, and help set up the grounds. Your support is what makes these sporting opportunities possible—thank you! Here’s to an even bigger and better season in 2026!

I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
