Week 3 Term 1 Newsletter 2022
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had another great start to the year and the temperature has been very favourable for all students returning to school. Thanks to all parents, teachers and students for making the start of the year so smooth. Kinder has settled in remarkably well as have all the other classes, well done everyone! Even though the weather has been cooler, can you please remember plenty of water, hats and ice bricks in lunch boxes? Water is the best way to hydrate throughout the day and water bottles are encouraged to be brought into the classroom, please ensure they only contain water. Poppas and juice are allowed with lunch orders.
We try to keep costs of schooling to a minimum and our school supplies most work books, however, we ask parents to buy maths text books fro students in Year 3-6, which keeps worksheets together and saves on photocopying and copyright. These can be purchased from the office for $26. Several classes require scrapbooks which can also be purchased from the office. Homework will begin this week for Year 1- 6, remember no homework in Weeks 1, 5 and last week of every term. Voluntary School Contributions remain the same $50 per child.
The Year 5 Chromebooks haven’t arrived yet. For those families who “opted in” to this program, a friendly reminder that the $100 deposit is due now and the $50 contribution instalments are due at the end of each term.
Primary swimming carnival is on this Friday. Congratulations to the new house captains who were voted in last week. Please see a list of recipients in the newsletter. Don’t forget students can dress in house colours on Friday, it’s always a fun day! Thank you to everyone who has offered to help, unfortunately spectators are unable to attend due to DoE guidelines. We look forward to a great COVID Smart day and thank you to Miss Dixon for all of her organisation.
RATs will be sent home with the eldest child on Thursday afternoon. If you prefer to pick them up from school, please let the office know by close of business today.
Our school Cross Country Carnival was going to be held at the end of the term, however, due to the influx in visitors to the showground during this time, we will postpone our carnival until the first Friday of Term 2.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Latest COVID-19 Advice
If you test positive with a rapid antigen test, you must:
Report through the Service NSW websiteExternal link and Service SNW app.External link so you can be linked to important health care support and advice based on your COVID-19 risk. If you or someone in your family can’t register online, please call Service NSW on 13 77 88
If you test positive with a PCR or rapid antigen test, you must:
- Isolate immediately for 7 days. Your household must also isolate for 7 days. If you have a sore throat, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath after 7 days, please remain in isolation until 24 hours after your symptoms have resolved.
- Tell people who you spent time with from the 2 days before you started having symptoms or 2 days before you tested positive (whichever came first) that you have COVID-19. This includes your social contacts, workplace and/or school.
- Monitor your symptoms. If you are concerned you should call your GP, the NSW Health COVID-19 Care at Home Support Line on 1800 960 933 or the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080. If symptoms become severe call 000.
All positive COVID-19 cases should be reported to the school if they have attended school recently.
Returning to school after COVID-19
It is recommended that staff and students that return to school after recovering from COVID-19 do not participate in rapid antigen test surveillance for 28 days (four weeks after recovery) following release from self-isolation. This is due to NSW Health advice that people who have recovered from COVID-19 have a low risk of contracting it again in the following 28 days. After 28 days (from week five after recovery) staff and students may resume participation in RAT surveillance. Negative results do not need to be reported to Service NSW or to the school.
Unwell at school
Any student or staff member who is unwell and/or displays symptoms of COVID-19 will be asked to go home and stay until they can complete a RAT or PCR test.
- If symptoms continue, they should stay at home and take another RAT in 24 hours or have a PCR test.
- If the second RAT or initial PCR test result is negative and they are displaying no symptoms OR they are diagnosed as another condition such as hayfever, the student or staff member can return to school.
- In NSW, positive COVID-19 cases are provided a Medical Clearance Notice after 7 days and allowed to leave self-isolation as long as they do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
Students who are isolating at home
If a student tests positive or is a close contact they must isolate for 7 days. School work can be accessed via the class' online platform and through the Digital Learnig Resource Hub. This involves learning at home without a teacher.
Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
2022 Primary Swimming Carnival
Our school swimming carnival will be held this Friday 11th February.
There will be no hot food available to buy at the pool, however students will be able to buy a limited amount of lollies and drinks. Normal high school lunch orders can be ordered online and will be delivered to the pool.
Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, spectators will not be allowed at the pool on Friday. Thank you to the parents who have offered to assist in helping out at the carnival. I will send home a program (helpers list) to the parents on Thursday who have gotten back to me. We currently have enough helpers. Thank you.

P & C News
Welcome to 2022!
After a couple of quiet years hopefully at some point we can get back to all our usual activities. Discos, raffles, movie nights, fetes and canteen days. The list really is endless.
To continue these events, we would love, both previous and any new parents to our wonderful school to help out and become a part of our P&C.
It might be behind the scenes (stamping tickets at home, baking, etc etc) or full on face to face with the kids, serving and getting amongst it all!!!
We are starting our year with the AGM (please don't be scared we WILL NOT force you into any position) on Monday 7th March time and venue to be advised.
All of our meetings are child friendly. Siblings are always welcome. We invite you to come and contribute your opinions and ideas for our school.
We are looking forward to seeing you all.
