Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the term, I’m pleased to see that illnesses have plateaued, and many of our students are feeling better as we head into the holidays.
I would like to remind you that school reports will be uploaded next Monday, during Week 10. Just like last year, they will be accessible through the Sentral Parent Portal and the app, where you can view or print them at your convenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school or connect with your child’s class teacher before the end of the term or into the next term. It has truly been a pleasure reading through the reports and witnessing the fantastic progress our students have made. There’s always room for improvement as we continue to strive for success!
Yesterday, our Year 3 to 6 students were treated to a performance of "Bottom’s Dream" by Bell Shakespeare. This renowned theatre company brings Shakespeare’s stories to life through outstanding acting and improvisation. The performance was captivating, and it was wonderful to see our students so engaged for the entire hour.
I’d also like to share that five of our students have headed off to Stewart House for a two-week beach holiday. A huge thank you to Mrs. Townsend and Mrs. Wright for accompanying the 40 students from our area on the bus this Monday, as well as the teachers from Canowindra High School who will be handling the return trip. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience a beach holiday and explore the city!
Preparations are also ramping up for our 150 Year celebrations in Term 4. We are currently seeking alumni contacts, stall holders for our fete, and old uniforms. If you are able to assist in any way, your help and presence will be greatly appreciated!
I’m excited to introduce a new initiative instigated by Cargo Flower Farm: the P&C Daffodil Drive. For each bag sold, $5 will go directly to the P&C to support the construction of a new nature playground at our school. This is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our school environment and provide our students with a fantastic imaginative play space. Your support for this initiative would be greatly appreciated!
Lastly, we are excited for the rescheduled Infants Athletics Carnival taking place next Thursday, July 3rd. A final confirmation will be sent out next week, so please pencil it into your diaries, weather permitting.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

EXCITING OOSH UPDATE!
We are thrilled to announce the introduction of an Outside School Hours (OOSH) program at our school! This initiative aims to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for our students before and after school hours.
To ensure the success and viability of this program, we need your support. We are currently seeking more children to enrol. A robust participation will not only enhance the program's offerings but also create a vibrant community where students can connect, learn, and have fun together.
If you are interested in enrolling your child or would like more information about the OOSH program, please use QR Code to register. Your involvement is crucial in making this program a valuable addition to our school community.
Thank you for your support!

Our players finished 8th out of the 20 teams in our division and should be proud of the great skill and sportsmanship they displayed.

NSW Public Schools Student Survey
In Term 2, our school is taking part in the NSW Public Schools Student Survey. The survey is being conducted by the NSW Department of Education and invites students in Year 3 to 6 to provide valuable feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. The survey will allow the department to conduct analysis and research into student wellbeing and engagement to drive improvement for all NSW public schools.
What you need to know:
• Participating students will be given a unique login to complete the survey online. Their responses will be anonymous.
• Students will complete the survey at school during school hours. The survey will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
• Participating in the survey is voluntary. Opting not to participate will not impact your child’s school experience. Your child can choose to stop the survey at any time and they can skip any questions that they prefer not to answer.
• More information about the survey and the research is available at education.nsw.gov.au/npss.
If you would prefer your child to opt out of the survey, please contact the school on 6344 1403 for relevant paperwork.
Attendance Matters

We know that it can sometimes be challenging getting your child to school, especially if they are experiencing anxiety or refusing to attend school.
They might be worried about their schoolwork, their friendship circles, playing sports or being away from their family. If you are concerned about your child's attendance at school or any other issues that may affect their attendance, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
We are here to support you and your child to make sure they are ready and engaged at school.
You can also access resources on the department website to support positive conversations with your child about attending school.
Our Learner Qualities

We are proud to reintroduce our Visible Learning qualities, which are essential traits that empower our students to thrive both academically and personally. These qualities include:
I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

The Resilience Project continued....

What are Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy? Why these?
● Gratitude is about paying attention to and being thankful for the things we have.
● Empathy is about understanding others’ feelings and perspectives and being kind to others.
● Mindfulness is about bringing our attention to the present moment and being aware of our thoughts, emotions and surroundings.
● Emotional Literacy is about labelling our emotions as we experience them and increasing our emotional vocabulary.
● There is a wealth of supporting academic research on the mental and physical benefits of these strategies. More information can be found on the References and reading section of our website.
The Resilience Project (TRP) are offering our families another webinar. This webinar can be accessed at home and is titled 'Building Resilience at Home'. Parents and carers are invited to individually register for the webinar using the following link:
