Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this message finds you well and warm during these chilly and dreary days. We are all looking forward to some sunshine soon! I'd like to thank Ms. Laurie for her efforts regarding the Todd Woodbridge Cup, which has been rescheduled for next Monday. We appreciate the understanding and support of our parents who will be transporting students.
I am excited to share that I’ll be having lunch with our Year 3/4 students this Friday! They have placed their orders, and we will enjoy a delicious meal from the Canowindra High School canteen together. Please remember not to pack lunch for your child on this day.
Next week is Public Education Week, and we have an engaging schedule planned:
Monday: We will kick off the week with our monthly P&C meeting at the Canowindra Hotel at 6:30 PM. If you haven’t attended before, we warmly invite you to join us for a meal and a beverage while we discuss important agenda items.
Tuesday: Several Year 5 students will be visiting Canowindra Preschool to assist with science experiments, providing a wonderful opportunity for collaboration.
Wednesday: It’s “Open Day”! Our classrooms will be open from 12 PM to 12:40 PM, followed by a free sausage sizzle lunch for families to enjoy with their children.
Thursday: Starr's Planetarium will be visiting our school, presenting an interactive experience in the hall throughout the day. Each class will have the chance to participate in this exciting program, generously subsidised by our dedicated P&C.
Friday: We will proceed with business as usual.
Additionally, I am pleased to announce that our Scholastic Book Fair will be operating from the canteen area during Education Week, available for purchases from Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:30 AM - 9:00 AM and Open Day throughout the open classrooms and during lunch.
Lastly, Kinderbounce for 5-year-olds will begin on Thursday 28th August for four weeks. Information about this special transition program has been shared with prospective families via Pre School and other channels. Please refer to the newsletter for further details, and ensure you RSVP to the school office.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I wish you all a wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

OOSH OPERATING MORNING AND AFTERNOON
We are thrilled to announce that Outside School Hours (OOSH) is operating 5 days per week morning and afternoon. This program provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for our students before and after school hours.
To ensure the success and viability of this program, we need your support. We are currently seeking more children to enrol. A robust participation will not only enhance the program's offerings but also create a vibrant community where students can connect, learn, and have fun together.
If you are interested in enrolling your child or would like more information about the OOSH program, please use QR Code to register. Your involvement is crucial in making this program a valuable addition to our school community.
Thank you for your support!

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) on School Students with Disability Notification for Parents and Carers
In August, all Government and non-Government schools across Australia are required to participate annually in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
All Australian schools will collect data on their students who are receiving adjustments to meet additional learning and support needs in accordance with their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and Disability Standards for Education 2005. This data will be provided to the Australian Government to assist in the development of a consistent, national picture of the education needs of students with disability.
The data provided to the Australian Government by the NSW Department of Education and Communities is provided in such a way that it cannot be used to identify any individual student or school.General information about the national data collection can be found on the following website at https://www.nccd.edu.au/
If you have any questions about the data collection, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Pengilly.

Attendance Matters

We know that it can sometimes be challenging getting your child to school, especially if they are experiencing anxiety or refusing to attend school.
They might be worried about their schoolwork, their friendship circles, playing sports or being away from their family. If you are concerned about your child's attendance at school or any other issues that may affect their attendance, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
We are here to support you and your child to make sure they are ready and engaged at school.
You can also access resources on the department website to support positive conversations with your child about attending school.

Our Learner Qualities

We are proud to reintroduce our Visible Learning qualities, which are essential traits that empower our students to thrive both academically and personally. These qualities include:
I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
