Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
Wow, Week 5 already! It was truly wonderful to see so many students, staff, and families come together for our biannual Book Parade. As always, the creativity and enthusiasm displayed in the dress-ups were impressive. It’s inspiring to witness the imagination of our students as they dressed up as the people they aspire to become when they grow up. The parade was a joyful celebration of books, reading, and the power of dreaming big. In addition to the parade, our students have been enjoying the opportunity to explore the shortlisted books from the CBCA Council available in the library, which has sparked a lot of interest and great conversations about literature.
Congratulations to all our athletics competitors who represented our school with pride and determination at the District Athletics Carnival in Cowra on Friday. It was fantastic to see so many personal bests achieved, and I am thrilled to announce that half of our participating students have qualified to advance to the Western Region Trials in Dubbo, which will take place in Week 9. A special mention goes to Noah Grey, who was awarded the 11 years boys champion title – a remarkable achievement! I would also like to congratulate all our relay teams who qualified for the Western Trials, as well as the many students who progressed in various field events. These results reflect the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, and we are incredibly proud of all their efforts.
Looking ahead, please be reminded that the Check-In Assessment will commence next week for all primary students. These assessments will be conducted during morning sessions in the hall over the next four weeks. It’s important that your child arrives at school before 9:00 AM to ensure they can participate fully. If your child has headphones, please remember to send them to school, as they will be needed during the assessments.
Our much-anticipated Year 4 Blue Mountains excursion is coming up in just two weeks! This excursion promises to be an enriching experience, offering students the chance to learn about the natural ancient environment and the early explorers who shaped our history. To ensure your child’s participation, please submit permission forms and payments by the due date, which is next Thursday. We understand that sometimes financial arrangements can be challenging, so if you have any concerns regarding payment, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office. We are here to support you and can discuss payment plans or other options as needed.
Thank you once again for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Your engagement makes a significant difference in our students’ learning experiences and overall school spirit.
Wishing you all a fantastic and productive week ahead!
Kind regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

Attendance Matters

We know that it can sometimes be challenging getting your child to school, especially if they are experiencing anxiety or refusing to attend school.
They might be worried about their schoolwork, their friendship circles, playing sports or being away from their family. If you are concerned about your child's attendance at school or any other issues that may affect their attendance, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
We are here to support you and your child to make sure they are ready and engaged at school.
You can also access resources on the department website to support positive conversations with your child about attending school.
Our Learner Qualities

We are proud to reintroduce our Visible Learning qualities, which are essential traits that empower our students to thrive both academically and personally. These qualities include:
I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
