Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,
Our primary classes have commenced the Check-In assessments this week, which will continue over the next four weeks on a staggered timetable. Students have been reminded to bring their earphones and be ready to begin promptly at the start of the morning session. Each primary class has been allocated specific timeslots to complete these assessments in the hall.
A reminder for all parents and carers of Year 4 students: permission forms and payment for the annual Blue Mountains excursion are due by this Thursday. This excursion is a wonderful complement to the Year 4 curriculum, offering rich learning experiences in history and natural environments. Please ensure that all updated medical information is submitted via the Sentral app, including any medication your child may require during the excursion. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
I’m pleased to announce that the P&C Father’s Day stall is all organised and ready to go. Students will have the opportunity to purchase gifts in their classrooms next Wednesday morning. Please see the flyer in the newsletter for more details. Gifts will range from $2 to $15, so please ensure money is sent to school in a secure purse or bag. A huge thank you to our P&C for organising this special event for our fabulous dads.
We are also excited to launch Lunchtime Liftoff, a new initiative designed to provide students with engaging opportunities to explore, create, and challenge themselves during lunch breaks. Starting next week, students will be invited to participate in a variety of activities aimed at developing creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. These activities will vary weekly and cover four key domains:
- Creative: Fostering imagination, invention, and originality.
- Intellectual: Enhancing processing, understanding, reasoning, and transfer of learning.
- Physical: Developing muscular movement and motor control.
- Social-emotional: Building self-management and interpersonal skills.
Thank you to Mrs. Matic for organising this exciting program. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Lunchtime Liftoff will have on our school community.
Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
Kind regards,
Sharon Hawker
Principal

To ensure the success and viability of this program, we need your support. We are currently seeking more children to enrol. A robust participation will not only enhance the program's offerings but also create a vibrant community where students can connect, learn, and have fun together.
If you are interested in enrolling your child or would like more information about the OOSH program, please use QR Code to register. Your involvement is crucial in making this program a valuable addition to our school community.

Attendance Matters

We know that it can sometimes be challenging getting your child to school, especially if they are experiencing anxiety or refusing to attend school.
They might be worried about their schoolwork, their friendship circles, playing sports or being away from their family. If you are concerned about your child's attendance at school or any other issues that may affect their attendance, please reach out to your child’s teachers.
We are here to support you and your child to make sure they are ready and engaged at school.
You can also access resources on the department website to support positive conversations with your child about attending school.
Our Learner Qualities

We are proud to reintroduce our Visible Learning qualities, which are essential traits that empower our students to thrive both academically and personally. These qualities include:
I Am Resilient: Our students learn to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, developing persistence and determination in their pursuit of success.
I Am Creative: We encourage creativity by inspiring students to think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions.
I Seek Feedback: Our students understand the value of constructive feedback as a tool for growth, actively seeking input to improve their learning and performance.
I Embrace Challenge: We foster a growth mindset, encouraging students to take on challenges and view them as opportunities for learning and development.
I Am Self-motivated: Our students take ownership of their learning, setting personal goals and striving to achieve them with enthusiasm and commitment.
These Visible Learning qualities are integral to our educational approach, helping students become confident, capable learners who are prepared for future success. Together, we will cultivate these qualities to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
