Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are having a busy week of extracurricular activities. These include PSSA Rugby League on Tuesday where we played two rounds of the knockout competition. We won our first round against Perthville PS, 10-6 and then went down to a very big Calare side in our second round match. Thank you to Mr Bates for organising the team and to our parents for transporting and helping out on the day, it takes a team effort! Our netballers are playing their second round match today at the The Oval this afternoon against Cowra. Tomorrow our Stage 2 & 3 dancers are off to Cowra to perform at the Eisteddfod, thanks again to Mrs Matic and Miss Lander for organising these two opportunities for our students. Without our teachers willing to take on these extracurricular activities, our students would not have these opportunities.
I would also like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Matic on the announcement of their first child due at the end of Term 3. This is such an exciting time for them both and we wish them well in this next chapter of their lives as a family. This means that Mrs Matic will be on maternity leave towards the end of Term 3. Further details will be sent to class parents in Term 3.
The Year 5 Canberra excursion permission notes and camp information will be sent home this afternoon. As always this is going to be another great trip. Parliament will be sitting and fingers crossed the weather gods are kind to us. The cost is $200 per student and can be paid off in instalments until Friday 3rd June. Please contact class teachers if you require any further information.
Additional RAT tests have been sent to our school. We will be sending home 5 tests per child with the eldest child tomorrow afternoon. If you require any more during the course of the term, please contact the school. The latest Covid advice still stands – if you test positive you must isolate for 7 days from the day you tested positive. Household contacts can attend school/ work and must test negative for 5 school days.
It's Walk to School Safely day this Friday. We’d like to encourage as many students as possible to walk to school safely. Our bus students will be dropped off at St Eddies and will walk across the supervised crossing to school. Staff will be supervising at either end of the crossing. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone walk into school on Friday.
Finally, NAPLAN concludes this Friday. A huge thank you to Mrs Pengilly for coordinating these online tests and catching up students who have been away. Parents and schools should receive results by the end of the term.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
A friendly reminder about pick up at the end of the day at Belmore St gate. Please avoid parking in the church yard and along Lola St. All parking needs to be on Belmore St. This will ensure the safety of all our students.

Latest COVID-19 Advice
As we move into Term 2 and the winter months, the pandemic is expected to continue to have a significant impact on school operations. Below is an update on the health settings in preparation for the start of term.
Positive COVID-19 result
Any student or staff member who tests positive to COVID-19 is required to follow NSW Health requirements. Currently, the requirements are:
- isolate for 7 days following the positive test
- leave isolation after 7 days if no symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath)
- if there are symptoms after 7 days, then remain in isolation until 24 hours after symptoms have resolved.
Staff and students who return a positive RAT result must register it on the Service NSW app or service.nsw.gov.au website as soon as possible.
If there is a positive case in your child’s class, year or other grouping, your child can continue to attend school in line with NSW Health advice. The School will continue to provide advice on the incidence of positive cases at school.
Changed close contact rules
On 20 April the NSW Government announced close contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 case will not be required to isolate, provided they comply with NSW Health guidelines.
From 6pm on Friday 22 April, close contacts (defined as a household contact or an individual deemed by NSW Health to be a close contact) will not have to isolate, as long as they have no symptoms and comply with the following guidelines:
- wear a face mask in indoor settings outside the home
- undertake daily Rapid Antigen tests before coming into close contact with people outside their home
- avoid contact with the elderly/immunocompromised
- do not visit aged care, hospitals, disability and correctional facilities unless an exemption applies
- work from home where possible
- notify their employer/educational facility that they are a close contact, and that they are not required to isolate as long as they comply with the above.
Close contacts will need to comply with the above guidelines for 7 days from the time a person in their household tested positive for COVID-19.
Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
