Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Friday our primary students and teachers braved the cold and managed to complete all rounds of the athletics field events. We moved the events back to school as the town oval was too wet and it ended up being a great day with lots more atmosphere and enthusiasm from everyone involved. Thank you to the parents and carers who helped on the day. As a result, we’re going to run our field events at school in the future.
Bravo to our Stage 3 dancers who performed at the Western Dance Festival in Bathurst on Tuesday. This is a huge effort for all involved. The girls arrived by bus in Bathurst in time for rehearsals and then they performed a matinee and everything culminated with the final evening performance. A huge shout out to Mrs Matic and Miss Lander for organising the girls and to parents who came to watch the performance and for driving everyone home.
Year 5 headed off on their adventures to Canberra bright and early yesterday morning and were greeted with snow capped mountains as they arrived in Canberra. As you can all appreciate, our excursions wouldn’t be possible if our teachers weren’t prepared to leave their own families to take our students away. I’m sure you’ll all be very grateful for their sacrifices and thank them on their return tonight at aprroximately 6:30pm.
Three Way Interviews will be open for booking this Friday. Please see all information including dates and times in the newseltter. We're looking forward to seeing as many parents and carers as possible. Refreshments will be available in the hall.
We had several sporting events postponed this week due to the weather. Unfortunately, the Rugby 7s couldn’t be rescheduled due to a clash of dates, however, soccer will hopefully reconvened next Tuesday after the long week. Good luck to Jay Burns and the Western region team at the State U11s Rugby League Carnival in Parkes this week!
Lastly, our newsletter is going out 1 day later than usual due to PSA (SASS staff) industrial action. Thank you to all our parents and teachers for their support and understanding yesterday. I had a very interesting day on the front desk and have an even greater appreciation for our office staff!
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
If there is a change of routine for your child at the end of the day, please notify the office by 2.30pm.

Latest COVID-19 Advice
As we move into Term 2 and the winter months, the pandemic is expected to continue to have a significant impact on school operations. Below is an update on the health settings in preparation for the start of term.
Positive COVID-19 result
Any student or staff member who tests positive to COVID-19 is required to follow NSW Health requirements. Currently, the requirements are:
- isolate for 7 days following the positive test
- leave isolation after 7 days if no symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, cough or shortness of breath)
- if there are symptoms after 7 days, then remain in isolation until 24 hours after symptoms have resolved.
Staff and students who return a positive RAT result must register it on the Service NSW app or service.nsw.gov.au website as soon as possible.
If there is a positive case in your child’s class, year or other grouping, your child can continue to attend school in line with NSW Health advice. The School will continue to provide advice on the incidence of positive cases at school.
Close contact rules
On 20 April the NSW Government announced close contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 case will not be required to isolate, provided they comply with NSW Health guidelines.
From 6pm on Friday 22 April, close contacts (defined as a household contact or an individual deemed by NSW Health to be a close contact) will not have to isolate, as long as they have no symptoms and comply with the following guidelines:
- wear a face mask in indoor settings outside the home
- undertake daily Rapid Antigen tests before coming into close contact with people outside their home
- avoid contact with the elderly/immunocompromised
- do not visit aged care, hospitals, disability and correctional facilities unless an exemption applies
- work from home where possible
- notify their employer/educational facility that they are a close contact, and that they are not required to isolate as long as they comply with the above.
Close contacts will need to comply with the above guidelines for 7 days from the time a person in their household tested positive for COVID-19.
Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
Class in Focus
