Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was remise of me not to mention the wonderful activities which took place at the end of last term. These included our PBL Reward afternoon, class rewards and our SRC visit to the preschool. The PBL reward afternoon was filled with fun, games and prizes and a special visit from “Twinkle”. We all had lots of fun and look forward to doing it all again when we fill the rocket. I also had the pleasure of organising lunch for 5/6D and everyone enjoyed delicious sausage rolls, wraps and sandwiches from Canowindra High School canteen. Miss Rinaldo’s class were treated to a picnic lunch and the SRC had a memorable visit to Canowindra Preschool where they read stories and helped out with activities for the afternoon, which we haven’t been able to do for a few years.
As we are all aware Covid and influenza are still “floating” around in our community and we are all obliged to do the right thing in order to stop the spread. Please ensure you inform the school if your child/ren are away due to Covid, we are still required to send out email alerts to inform parents of current cases. Additional RATs were sent home with the eldest child on Monday. If you require any more throughout the term, please contact the school and see updated information in the newsletter.
Education Week is next week and we have a few busy weeks of activities planned. First up, on Monday August 1, Years 3-6 will be watching a Tony Bones performance in the hall about the CBCA shortlisted book The imaginer. Permission notes have been sent via the Parent Portal app. We are moving to electronic notes and everyone should have downloaded this by now. If you haven’t downloaded the app, please see further information in the newsletter.
Thank you to everyone who has downloaded the app and given permission to the Tony Bones 3-6 incursion. The next step is to pay by cash or POP through our school website by Friday. If we do not receive permission and payment, we will presume you do not want your child to attend. The performance is on Monday morning at 9am.
Our Open Day/ Colour Fun Run will be on Tuesday 9th August at 12 pm. Parents, relatives, neighbours are all encouraged to come and see our wonderful classrooms and the work the students have done throughout the year. This will be followed by a free sausage sizzle at 1pm, where visitors can join us for lunch. Then the P&C Colour Fun Run will start at 2 pm. Students can change into their white shirts at lunch. Fundraising information and prize booklets were sent home last week.
Kinderbounce for 5 year olds, will begin on Monday 1st August for 4 weeks. Information re. this special program has gone out to all prospective families via Pre School and other outlets. Please see additional information in the newsletter. Please ensure you RSVP to the school office by the end of the week.
Last Friday we enjoyed the glorious sunshine and warmer weather and participated in our Peer Support NAIDOC games afternoon. Our Year 6 peers support leaders guided their groups through the games and everyone enjoyed learning new games. Thanks to Mrs Matic for coordinating and to our leaders for doing a great job.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
