Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’re into the last month of winter and I’m counting down till Spring, however, it looks like this month is going to be just as wet and cold as the past few months. Hopefully, we’ll have fair weather for our Open Day and Colour Fun Run next Tuesday. Gates will open at 12pm for parents to attend our open classrooms. Please do not attend if you are feeling sick or have any cold or flu symptoms. We are also asking parents not to crowd our classrooms and go to another child’s class if one is too busy or wait outside until someone leaves.
The Tony Bones performance of the CBCA shortlisted book The imagineer was a great success, all students who attended, loved the performance and found it be very entertaining. Infants will get to see a similar performance by Meerkat Productions performing the book Stellaphant in Week 8 as we will be hosting the Canowindra Community Reading Day. Again, permission notes will be sent via the Sentral parents app (verbal or written permission will not be accepted due to legal reasons). Infants’ parents can start downloading the app now. Those who haven’t accessed it before will be sent an email with an access code. Please check your emails in the coming days.
As mentioned, our Open Day/ Colour Fun Run will be on Tuesday 9th August at 12 pm. Parents, relatives, neighbours are all encouraged to come and see our wonderful classrooms and the work the students have done throughout the year. This will be followed by a free sausage sizzle at 1pm, where visitors can join us for lunch. Then the P&C Colour Fun Run will start at 2 pm. Students can change into their white shirts at lunch. It’s not too late to start fundraising as it doesn’t close until 2 weeks after the event, fundraising is optional; all students will be able to participate.
Kinderbounce for 5 year olds, began on Monday. What a wonderful group of grown up 5 year olds they are. We look forward to seeing everyone again for the next three Mondays.
District athletics will be taking place in Cowra next Friday. A bus has been organised to transport everyone to the event. All students are required to pay for the bus regardless of travel arrangements. Permission is via the Sentral app which was sent out yesterday and payments can be made via POP or cash.
The Year 4 Blue Mountains excursion is in the final stages of planning. The cost will be $210. Parents can start paying this off if they wish. The excursion will be in Week 9, 15-16 September. Ms Laurie and I will be the supervising teachers. We haven’t been able to go on this excursion for the last 2 years so we are very much looking forward to sharing this experience with our students again. Permission notes and information will be sent out in the next few weeks via the app.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
If there is a change of routine for your child at the end of the day, please notify the office by 2.30pm.

COVID-smart settings in Term 3
The COVID-smart settings students, staff and communities have become used to will continue in Term 3 including:

Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
