Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I’m pleased to announce that our school will have a Before and After School Care service run by Big Childcare, commencing in 2023. The service will run from 7am - 8:30am, 3pm - 6pm. The next five months will be spent planning and working with Big Childcare to put in place this much needed service. Not only will they be looking for school age children to attend, they are also looking for quality educators to run the service. We are in the preliminary stages of planning and more information will be disseminated in the coming months.
Finger’s crossed district athletics will be taking place in Cowra this Friday. A bus has been organised to transport everyone to the event. All students are required to pay for the bus regardless of travel arrangements. Thank you to everyone who has given permission via the Sentral Parent app. If there are any changes to this event, we will let you know via the app as soon as we hear anything.
A reminder that Voluntary School Contributions and any monies outstanding for textbooks, excursions etc. are due now. Accounts were sent out last week. If you are having difficulty in paying these please contact the school to arrange a payment plan.
As we all know Cyber Safety is always an important topic for our students and it’s important we teach our students about this. We cover this topic thoroughly in PD/H and we access the local services of police and DoE personnel to talk to our students. Several flyers will be included in the newsletter over the coming week’s for parents from the eSafety Commissioner https://www.esafety.gov.au/ which is a one stop shop for anyone to find out anything they need to know about cyber safety.
There are several excursions which are coming up in the next couple of weeks, please see the newsletter for more information. All permission notes are to be completed via the Sentral Parent app. Payments can be made via the school website, see flyer regarding the new and improved access to online payments.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
If there is a change of routine for your child at the end of the day, please notify the office by 2.30pm.
Opera Australia Regional School Tour Presents: Cinderella
Strap yourselves in and get ready to be transported to the floating city of Venice for a story that will remind you to shine bright and stand out from the crowd.
Angelina is a designer, costumier and seamstress of unparalleled skill. She longs to design bold, beautiful clothing but is stuck making ugly garments for her social-climbing step-father Don Magnifico and sister Tisbe.
Prince Ramiro has been charged to host a grand ball during the Venetian Carnival and wants to wear something wild and unusual to prove his uniqueness. He announces a city-wide competition, but is there anyone in Venice who can rise to the challenge?
Based on Rossini’s Cenerentola, this brand new production has been especially devised for school students of all ages. Complete with striking costumes and vibrant scenery, our professional opera singers perform live and in English.
A range of dynamic and interactive curriculum-based teacher resources are available online to help classroom teachers explore the music and broaden their student’s appreciation of the opera form.
Cinderella is designed as a school incursion and available throughout Metropolitan and Regional New South Wales and ACT from May 2022. Cinderella is coming to Cowra Civic Theatre on Tuesday 30th August. Canowindra Public School has reserved 55 tickets for our students. Latest COVID-19 Advice
COVID-smart settings in Term 3
The COVID-smart settings students, staff and communities have become used to will continue in Term 3 including:
In addition to these baseline settings, we will be providing some additional layers this term as extra protection for our staff, students and school communities, including:
|
Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
Community Health Centre
In Canowindra, we are very fortunate to have access to a speech therapist and other vital services at our Community Health Centre. In support of the 2022 Speech Patholgy Week, students in K-2 are entering a colouring competition. Our local speech therapist, Bianca, will be judging the entries and announcing a winner later in the month.
