Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Another week of wild weather! Thankfully, it’s the last day of winter today.
I’m pleased to announce that our NAPLAN results are in. All Year 3 & 5 parents will receive copies of their child’s NAPLAN results today. They will be sent home with the students. We are yet to receive our school's results in full, and unfortunately there won’t be any growth results this year as 2020 NAPLAN was cancelled due to COVID-19. However, we do know that we have reached our state negotiated targets which were set for literacy and numeracy, and we are well above state average for students achieving top two bands in both these areas. This is a huge achievement considering the last two years we have had. It is testament to everyone at our great school including all our staff from SASS, classroom teachers, learning support, executive and the various programs we have in place such as Visible Learning and PBL which underpin the culture of the school. Well done everyone, let’s keep up the great work! If you have any questions regarding NAPLAN, please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
I’d also like to inform our school community, that Mrs Toovey is expecting her second child at the end of the year. Mrs Toovey will be taking leave mid-way through Term 4. We are all very excited for Lauren and Josh and wish them well in the coming months.
A friendly reminder for 3-6 parents, to ensure that their children have enough school supplies to get them through to the end of the year. This includes pens, pencils, textas, glue etc. Thank you in advance for topping these supplies up.
There are several excursions which are coming up in the next couple of days/weeks. Todd Woodbridge Cup for selected Stage 2 students is on this Friday, all permission notes and money for bus is due by 6pm tonight via the app. Payment can be made via the school website or by cash. Please see the newsletter for more information on upcoming incursions and excursions.
Congratulations to Fraser Wythes for representing our school and Western Region at the PSSA State Rugby Union Carnival in Mudgee last week. The team finished 10 in the competition and everyone had a great experience.
Due to the wet weather and the condition of the oval, K-2 Athletics carnival will be postponed until Week 9.
Don’t forget P&C Father’s Day stall tomorrow only. Students will be able to purchase throughout the day in their classes. Gifts range from $1- $10.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker
A reminder that Voluntary School Contributions and any monies outstanding for textbooks, excursions etc are due now. Accounts have been sent out. If you are having difficulty in paying, please contact the school to arrange a payment plan.

Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This weeks Class is: Year 3
Last Friday the sun came out just in time for Year 3 to plant some trees on the South Canowindra Reserve. Year 3 have been studying Protection of Environments in Geography this term and ways in which we can live more sustainably. We had a great morning and the students all thoroughly enjoyed getting their hands dirty. A big thank you to Margie Crowther for her help organising the day and teaching us the proper technique for tree planting and mulching. And thank you to our parent helpers Ben Smith and Sharna Lloyd for helping us get there safely and Sugarloaf studios (Sharna) for these lovely photos. Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
