Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
On Friday our whole school watched a performance called Scott’s BMX trick bike show. The students were enthralled by the show and Scott thoroughly enjoyed performing for us. He told us after the show that it was one of the best received audiences that he has experienced, he loved the enthusiasm of our students and staff. Thank you everyone for supporting the show!
Year 4 will be heading off on their adventures tomorrow morning at 8am. Ms Laurie and I are looking forward to the trip. This is a great excursion, as many of us pass through the mountains on the way to Sydney and rarely explore the World Heritage Area. We’ll be experiencing the ancient stories of the land through to colonial and modern times, finger’s crossed we don’t get too much rain!
Good luck to all of our athletes who will be participating in the Western Region carnival in Dubbo on Friday. We have 22 students representing our school and I’m sure they will all do their best and hopefully achieve a PB.
There will be no assembly this week due to Western Athletics and Blue Mountains excursion, we will reconvene in Week 3 Term 4. Additionally due to the wet weather predicted tomorrow, the Infants Athletics carnival will be postponed until next term as well.
Permission notes will be sent home today via the Sentral Parent app regarding the Whole School Peer Support excursion to Orange which will be taking place on the first Wednesday back in Term 4 (12th October). This excursion signifies the end to Peer Support and it’s a great way to finish off, with all of our leaders and groups having a great time together at ten pin bowling and at the adventure playground. Permission notes and money are due in by the end of the term, due to the tight turn around at the beginning of Term 4.
I’m also pleased to inform you that Margaret Crowther, who teaches ethics at our school, has been nominated for the Inaugural Kinghorn Award. This award honours an ethics volunteer who is an inspirational role model for other volunteers – and for their school and community. It brings substantial prize money of $4000 to go to the recipient’s chosen school. Winning this would be huge but we think that simply being nominated is an honour and shows what high esteem Margie is held. Well done Margie!
Term 3 concludes next Friday 23rd September. There will be no school on Thursday 22nd September due to the public holiday for the passsing of our Queen.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Girls League Tag Gala Day
Mrs Howard and Miss Lander took four CPS teams to play in the Girls League Tag gala day in Grenfell today. All the kids showed great sportsmanship, especially the more experienced players who coached and helped others learn the game. A great day had by all!
On Tuesday 13th September, 36 girls from Years 3-6 participated in a League Tag Gala Day in Grenfell. Canowindra had 4 teams that played very well in all four games. We scored lots of tries and had lots of fun. A lot of younger players had not played before and improved a lot throughout the day. To conclude the day, the girls sung a variety of songs on the bus trip home. Great games girls!

Latest COVID-19 Advice
|
Parents need to be aware that our school operates under strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day of a scheduled school year. It is a parent’s responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. Please call the school or send a note in within 3 days of absence.
