Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Everyone has settled back into school very smoothly and it has been great to see everyone’s smiling faces and positive attitude towards school. Firstly, I’d like to congratulate Mrs Matic and her husband Josh, on the safe arrival of little Sienna Elizabeth Matic. Sienna was born in the holidays and mum and bub are doing very well. We’re all looking forward to meeting her very soon.
Congratulations to two students who have been representing our school at the top level. Charlotte Pearce has been in Tamworth last week competing in the Inter-Schools Horse Extravaganza. She placed 3rd in Combined Training 60cm Primary and Champion Show Jumping 60cm Primary. Jay Burn is currently in Sydney competing at Homebush in NSW PPA State Athletics carnival in the 100m and 200m. Well done to both students!
Applications for the Year 7 Aurora class 2024 at Canowindra High School and other selective schools, are now open. Any Year 5 parents and students who are interested please see information in the newsletter or contact your class teacher.
Fingers crossed the weather will be fine on Friday as we have the Year 6 Monster Marathon as well as students going to the Australian Nation Field Days. Thank you to everyone for their sponsorship of the marathon, the students are looking forward it. Thank you to Mrs Pengilly and Mrs Harris for talking the students to the field days, I hope you all have a great day.
Lastly, it was great to see all our Kinder 2023 cohort start Kinder Orientation on Monday. It was wonderful to see our Kinderbounce kids arrive and help the other students settle in for the first time. This two-step approach makes our transition run very smoothly. I’ll be conducting two tours during Kinder Orientation in Week 3 and 4 for any parents who would like a tour of the school and a brief information session.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Whole School Peer Support Excursion Report
On Wednesday the 12th of October, Canowindra Public went to Orange for their annual peer support excursion. This year the school went to tenpin bowling and the Adventure Playground. One group went to the Adventure Playground first and the other went to Tenpin Bowling. We all had such a blast bowling. There were heaps of funny moments. Bowling lasted for around an hour. Then the groups swapped. At the playground there were so many kids giggling and laughing. Everyone was having so much fun on the swings, slides and monkey bars. Adventure Playground lasted for an hour as well. Both groups then made their way back to Canowindra. We arrived back at 2:45 and we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. We both had so much fun and we hope everyone else did too!
