Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Well done to all our Monster Marathon runners last Friday! The weather held out and everyone had a great day. Thank you to our teachers, students and sponsors for making the day such a great success.
The term is flying along and we are looking forward to many and varied activities for the rest of the term. These include the Infants Incursion to Musica Viva - Wyniss Torres Strait Islander Dance Group next Thursday which will be held in our school hall. Several other local schools will be joining us as well. The cost has been subsidised by the Canowindra Baroquefest and it will only cost our students $5 each. Information and permission will be sent home via the Sentral app today and a link to the show can be found below.
The following Friday, 4th November is our school Fete. Classes are busily organising their stalls and activities. The P&C are doing a meal deal (notes will be sent home today) and they have organised the NSW Rugby League and Cowra PCYC to visit on the day. The Fete will go from 1-3pm, all parents, carers, relatives are welcome. At 2:45pm Mrs Swords and I will be “slimed” as we hit the magic $10 000 raised at the Fun Run last term. The prizes have arrived and the P&C will distribute to the kids by the end of the week.
Year 3 will be heading off on their annual excursion on Friday 11th November. This year the group will be going to Wellington Caves with Mrs Swords and Mrs Golden. This is always a great excursion for the Year 3s as it’s only for the day and is held during school hours. Permission will be sent via the Sentral app today.
Tell Them From Me survey has opened for all students, staff and parents to provide valuable feedback to our school. An email with link was sent to all parents on Monday. Please take the time to respond, it will only take about 10mins. We value your time and feedback. It can be completed via phone, tablet or computer.
The DoE has allocated schools an additional SDD at the end of the year, this means that our students will finish on Thursday 15th December and staff will complete 2 SDD on Friday 16th December and Monday 19th December. Please see explanation in our newsletter.
Don’t forget school assembly this Friday.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Year 5 Trip to The Australian National Field Days
On Friday the 21st of October, Eight Year 5’s travelled to Borenore for the Australian National Field Days. All Year 5 students who were interested in attending had to put in an expression of interest. There were 3 questions: What do you know about the ANFD? Why should you be chosen? What would you learn on that day?
All day we walked around the different agriculture tents and stores. Everyone enjoyed the whole day. All the kids had a turn at a welding simulator. Three boys had a turn at a tractor driving simulator at On Trac Ag. There was lots of food and drinks. Everyone was well fed. We watched the lawnmower races at one o'clock. All the kids were very well behaved and had their manners with them. Thank you to Mrs Harris for taking the time out of her day to take us and thank you Mrs Pengilly for driving us and keeping us all together and not lost. Also, thanks to Mr Hatton for joining us on the day.
Year 3 Check In Assessments
Year 3 are completing the Check-in assessments this week. The students will be assessed in reading and numeracy. Students are asked to bring headphones to each test.
End of Year Staff Development Day Information
Students will now finish school on Thursday 15 December 2022.
This is due to an additional School Development Day announced for staff across NSW public schools. While many other schools will hold their last student day on Friday 16 December, CPS will have a different arrangement due to our students attending school on Monday 26th April 2022 in lieu of the state wide School Development Day in Term 2.
School Development Days allow our staff to participate in professional learning that was put on hold due to COVID-19 staffing pressures and plan ahead for 2023 to ensure we meet the needs of our students.
With this change, we ask that you arrange alternative care for your child on Friday 16 December.
You can find local vacation care services for your child via the Before and After Care School Finder https://finder.service.nsw.gov.au/.
While there will be no classes on Friday 16 December.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school.
