Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
You never know what each day will bring in a school and yesterday was one of those days. Thankfully, most staff and students were able to get home before the bridge closed. Hopefully it will be reopening soon, however, we have been advised that it could be slower than anticipated due to the amount of water flowing into the catchment. Due to this reason, school will be operating with minimal supervision until further notice. As soon as the bridge reopens, I will inform all families via email, SMS and on our school Facebook page.
Additionally, I am waiting to see what happens with the river over the next 24 hours and will make a decision regarding the status of Musica Viva and the school Fete in the coming days.
Kinder Orientation for class of 2023 continued Monday. I also had the pleasure of meeting several parents and took them on a tour and provided them with an information pack. There will be one more tour on Monday at 1:50pm, this culminates with the last Kinder Orientation session for the year. All information will be sent home with students at the completion of Kinder Orientation.
Four of our Year 6 students will be heading off to Stewart House on Monday for 2 weeks to Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Hopefully the weather will be better than the week we have had. I’m sure you’ll all have a trip of a lifetime and we can’t wait to hear all about it.
The Year 3 Wellington Caves excursion has been moved to the Parkes Telescope due to movement in the caves because of the rain. Thankfully, this has worked out to be a straight swap with times, cost etc. and all parents have been notified by email. If you are yet to give permission and pay, please do so by the end of the week.
Thank you once again to everyone for helping out yesterday. A special mention to Mrs Smith, who was in the office with me. It was multitasking at its finest! Our thoughts are with everyone who is affected by the flood waters from Cowra to Forbes and in between. Stay safe!
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

End of Year Staff Development Day Information
Students will now finish school on Thursday 15 December 2022.
This is due to an additional School Development Day announced for staff across NSW public schools. While many other schools will hold their last student day on Friday 16 December, CPS will have a different arrangement due to our students attending school on Monday 26th April 2022 in lieu of the state wide School Development Day in Term 2.
School Development Days allow our staff to participate in professional learning that was put on hold due to COVID-19 staffing pressures and to plan ahead for 2023 to ensure we meet the needs of our students.
With this change, we ask that you arrange alternative care for your child on Friday 16 December.
You can find local vacation care services for your child via the Before and After Care School Finder https://finder.service.nsw.gov.au/.
While there will be no classes on Friday 16 December.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school.
