Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fabulous way to end the year, even if the weather is a “tad” cool! Year 6 enjoyed another amazing excursion to Burrendong. Miss Dixon and Mrs McLaughlan had nothing but praise for our group of students. Everyone actively participated in all the activities and enjoyed every experience. The Sport & Rec staff were also very impressed with how everyone worked together and enjoyed themselves.
School reports were sent home on Monday. Please take the time to read these with your children and go through their learning goals for 2023. We look forward to developing these next year.
Thank you to all our parents, carers and relatives for coming along to yesterday’s Presentation Day ceremony. Students were rewarded for their effort and application throughout the year as well as the announcement of our new school leaders for next year. It was great to see everyone’s smiling faces and appreciation of their hard work.
Today is Christmas mufti day, with all students and staff getting into the spirit of Xmas and everyone looking festive! Today will culminate in class parties and general farewells. Tomorrow is our last day for students and this will be our “clean up” day. Friday & Monday are our Staff Development Days and staff will be completing professional learning and mandatory training in readiness for 2023.
I think we are all ready for a break and some time to rest, reflect and refresh from another eventful year. I sincerely thank you all for your support and understanding as we have navigated the ebbs and flows of 2022. Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and hope that you can spend some special time together with family and friends. Enjoy the summer holidays and we will see Year 1 – Year 6 on Tuesday 31st Jan. Kinder 2023 will have Beststart interviews on 31st Jan & 1st Feb and will start “big” school on Thursday 2nd Feb.
Have a great holiday!
Sharon Hawker
Mural
As a gift to the school, two previous Year 6 classes have put money towards a school mural. Sue Hodge a local artist, painted a scene to represent our school and our community. She has worked on in for most of this semester and we are very proud of the result. Can the students count the number of kids in the school? Can they find our principal? Can they locate five things that should not be there? Make sure you come and have a close look at it.

School Swimming Scheme
Students completed 10 days of swim school last Friday. All students did a great job and not only improved their swimming skills but their confidence in the water. A big thank you to Mel Stanbury, Sharna Lord and India Breen for teaching the kids.
CWA - Country of Interest Winners
This year the primary classes learned about Latvia for the CWA Country of Study. The children did various projects, such as posters, PowerPoints, postcards and booklets, researching and displaying what they learnt. CWA representative Mrs Jan Kerr, said they were very impressed with the quality of the projects and as a result, several of the projects were sent on to the next level.

End of Year Staff Development Day Information
Students will now finish school on Thursday 15 December 2022.
This is due to an additional School Development Day announced for staff across NSW public schools. While many other schools will hold their last student day on Friday 16 December, CPS will have a different arrangement due to our students attending school on Monday 26th April 2022 in lieu of the state wide School Development Day in Term 2.
School Development Days allow our staff to participate in professional learning that was put on hold due to COVID-19 staffing pressures and to plan ahead for 2023 to ensure we meet the needs of our students.
With this change, we ask that you arrange alternative care for your child on Friday 16 December.
You can find local vacation care services for your child via the Before and After Care School Finder https://finder.service.nsw.gov.au/.
While there will be no classes on Friday 16 December.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school.
