Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had another great start to the year and the temperature has gradually been getting hotter but our new refrigerated air-conditioning is keeping everyone cool. I’m not sure how we ever managed with the “old swampies”. Thanks to all parents, teachers and students for making the start of the year so smooth. Kinder has settled in remarkably well, as have all the other classes, well done everyone! A friendly reminder to pack plenty of water, hats and ice bricks in lunch boxes. Water is the best way to hydrate throughout the day and water bottles are encouraged to be brought into the classroom, please ensure they only contain water. Poppas and juice are only allowed with lunch orders.
We try to keep costs of schooling to a minimum and our school provides most workbooks, however, we ask parents to buy maths text books, which keeps worksheets to a minimum and saves on photocopying and copyright. These can be purchased from the office for $28. Several classes require scrapbooks which can also be purchased from the office. Homework will begin this week for Year 1- 6, remember no homework in Weeks 1, 5 and last week of every term.
Year 5 and 6 received new Chromebooks this year. For those families who “opted in” to this program, a friendly reminder that the $100 deposit is due now and the $50 contribution instalments are due at the end of each term.
Voluntary School Contributions have been set a $55 for the first child, $45 second, $35 third….These are ready to be paid either online or at the front office. We appreciate your support in advance.
Our Primary swimming carnival is on this Friday. Congratulations to the new house captains who were voted in last week. Please see a list of recipients in the newsletter. Don’t forget students can dress in your house colours on Friday, it’s always a fun day! Thank you to everyone who has offered to help. We look forward to seeing helpers and spectators alike and thank you to Miss Dixon for all her organisation.
Breakfast Club operates 5 days per week every morning from 8.30-9am. This is for all students. The school welcomes any donations of bread, milk, fruit etc.
Have a great week!

Thank you to the parents who have offered to assist in helping out at the carnival. I will send home a program (helpers list) to the parents on Thursday who got back to me. We currently have enough helpers. Spectators welcome!

Attendance
Parents need to be aware that our schools operate under very strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day from 9am to 3pm of a scheduled school year. It is a parent's responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. If we do not recieve an explaination within 2 weeks, it will be marked as "absent unexplained". Please respond to our absent SMS, they are free of charge.
Introducing our Learner Qualities
These qualities will be referred to in all lessons and will give students the necessary skills to become lifelong learners. Stay tuned for more news on these learner qualities via our newsletter and Facebook.
