Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the swimming carnival last Friday. It was a great day with lots of students participating for the first time and many others swimming PB’s and breaking records. Many thanks to everyone who dressed up, your all looked amazing! Miss Dixon and primary staff for another well organised event and thanks to all our parents who helped on the day. There will be a full report in this week’s newsletter.
I’d like to give a very warm welcome to Ms Bec Bouffler and Miss Natalia Jimenez who are our new school counsellors this year. They will be alternating every Monday and will be working closely with our Learning and Support Team.
This Friday we will be holding our first assembly of the year. Kinder will experience their first assembly where they will get to practice singing the school song and national anthem and our school leaders will be involved in the running of our assembly for the first time. Award recipients will be published in this week’s newsletter and House Captains will be given their badges. Parents/ carers are welcome to attend. Assembly will begin at 2pm in the hall.
Stage 3 AFL Paul Kelly Cup will be held in Cowra next Monday 20th Feb. Information and permission notes were sent home via the Sentral app yesterday. Permission and money for bus is due by this Friday. Miss Chadwick and I will be supervising the 35 students who have nominated to play on the day. Some students have participated before, but no prior experience is welcomed. It will be a great day and is always a well organised by Central West AFL.
At the beginning of every school year we are required to have emergency drills. If your child comes home and mentions that there was an evacuation or a lockdown, this will be a practice. If it is a real emergency, the school will let parents know via our communication channels.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Attendance
Parents need to be aware that our schools operate under very strict guidelines from the NSW government concerning the attendance of students. A child must attend school every day from 9am to 3pm of a scheduled school year. It is a parent's responsibility to ensure that this happens, and it is the school’s responsibility to keep accurate records of attendance. The school is not permitted to approve leave for any reason other than illness, exceptional family circumstances or occasional absence for elite sporting or cultural participation. This may seem severe, but all schools must adhere to these guidelines. Most leave, other than sick will be designated as “explained but unjustified”. If we do not recieve an explaination within 2 weeks, it will be marked as "absent unexplained". Please respond to our absent SMS, they are free of charge.
