Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
The wet weather has played havoc with the Rugby League Gala Day, the event has been postponed for today. I know there were a few disappointed students, but we have our PSSA knockout competition starting in Term 2 and possible reschedule of Gala Day.
Get your smiles ready, school photos are on next Tuesday 4th April. Please ensure your child is in full summer uniform. Girls can wear either their school dress or yellow shirt with emblem, black skirt/ skort, white socks and black school shoes. All hair ribbons need to be school colours. Boys are to wear their yellow shirt with emblem, black shorts, grey/black socks and black school shoes/ boots. All envelopes need to be returned to the school office before or on Tuesday as they need to be collated into class groups and given to the photographers on the day. Please ensure your child is at school on time, photos will be commencing at 9am.
Friday is going to be a busy day with Primary Cross Country, Easter Hat Parade and Assembly. There will be a free sausage sizzle for all students and visitors at 1pm. This will be a great way to finish off the week/term. Easter Hat Parade is always a fun event and our Infants students love to show off their creations and there might be a surprise visit by Easter bunny.
Please remember that in the morning the drop off zone is not for parking in. If you need to leave your vehicle you will need to park out of this zone. There is also no standing along the Anglican Church boundary and opposite this area along Lola St. Hefty fines apply if you park in this area.
Aurora apllications are now open for Year 4 students entering Year 5 in 2024. Please see postcard below. If you have any questions contact the school.
The last day of term is next Thursday 6th April. In the holidays our students will be able to march in the Balloon Glow Parade on Saturday 15th April as well as ANZAC Day parade on Tuesday 25th April. Students will commence Term 2 on Wednesday 26th April. There will be more information about the marches in next weeks’ newsletter.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week's class is : 3/4 A
Year 3/4 A have been learning about different painting techniques. We chose to paint a picture of our favourite pet. We looked at Australian artist Lucy Culliton for Inspiration, as she often uses animals for subjects for her paintings. We had to learn how to show the animals fur or feathers using different types of brush strokes.
Outcomes:
VAS2.1 Represents the qualities os experiences and things that are interesting or beautiful by choosing among aspects of subject matter.
VAS2.4 Identifies connections between subject matter in artworks and what they refer to, and appreciates the use of particular techniques.

Stewart House Donation Drive 2023
Every year, 1,600 public school children attend our safe haven next to Curl Curl beach at no cost to their parents or carers. During a 12-day stay, they are provided with dental, optical, hearing and medical screening and treatment.
Children participate in educational programs and excursions designed to develop their social and emotional skills, build self-esteem and improve their overall wellbeing.
This experience provides children with a much-needed break from their current circumstances. Our children are inspired to see beyond the present and to have real hope and positive aspirations for their future.
Please donate to Stewart House for a chance to win a $4,000 GIFT VOUCHER.
STEP 1 - Collect an envelope from the office at school.
STEP 2 - Fill out information on the envelope, insert a donation of at least $2 into the envelope and seal it.
STEP 3 - Return the envelope to our school office by 10th May 2023.
Thank you for your support.
