Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve made it to the end of the term and what a great term it has been! Today our 4 State swimmers – Ava Thornberry, Lucy Neville, Haylee Stanbury and Marley Ryan will be competing at Homebush Aquatic Centre, we wish them all the very best as they swim against the top primary aged students in NSW. We’ll be watching the live stream!
Thank you to everyone who helped at last week’s Primary Cross Country. It was a great day and our top 6 runners will go through to the district carnival in Canowindra in May. Thank you to the Infants staff for putting on another gorgeous Easter Hat Parade, lots of fun was had by all.
We finish the term with a few PBL rewards. I’m looking forward to having lunch with Kindergarten today. Ms Laurie’s class is having a class party and Miss Dixon’s class will be wearing tutus tomorrow.
Canowindra will be a very busy place over the Easter holidays with the Balloon Glow and ANZAC Day ceremonies to name a few. Our school has been invited to march in the Balloon Glow Parade on Saturday 15th April as well as ANZAC Day March on Tuesday 25th April. If you are around for either of these events, please join our wonderful school for each of these occasions. See additional information in the newsletter. Also look out for artworks displayed in shop fronts from several of our classes.
Week 1 and 2 next term is a very busy one. There are a few excursions which parents need to be organised for and permission required by early next term. These include:
- Year 6 Peer Support training at Moorbel Hall, Thursday 27th April & Ninja Warrior Course Orange, Monday 1st May Term 2.
- PSSA Cricket and Rugby 7s Orange, permission notes will be sent home before the end of term.
Lastly, please see information about the termination of Big Childcare services across all DoE schools. I am working closely with the DoE to find a local solution for alternative Before and After School Care.
A final reminder that the last day of this term is tomorrow 6th April and first day back next term for students is Wednesday 26th April. Have a wonderful Easter and holidays with family and friends! Enjoy the beautiful autumn weather and we look to another great term of learning.
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

PBL Focus - CPS Wellbeing Program
Stewart House Donation Drive 2023
Every year, 1,600 public school children attend our safe haven next to Curl Curl beach at no cost to their parents or carers. During a 12-day stay, they are provided with dental, optical, hearing and medical screening and treatment.
Children participate in educational programs and excursions designed to develop their social and emotional skills, build self-esteem and improve their overall wellbeing.
This experience provides children with a much-needed break from their current circumstances. Our children are inspired to see beyond the present and to have real hope and positive aspirations for their future.
Please donate to Stewart House for a chance to win a $4,000 GIFT VOUCHER.
STEP 1 - Collect an envelope from the office at school.
STEP 2 - Fill out information on the envelope, insert a donation of at least $2 into the envelope and seal it.
STEP 3 - Return the envelope to our school office by 10th May 2023.
