Week 8 Term 2 Newsletter 2023
Principal's Message
It was a cold start for our 17 competitors and Ms Laurie who headed off to Orange this morning for the Western Region Cross Country Carnival. We wish everyone well and I’m sure they will have lots of fun and hopefully the sun comes out.
Miss Groves and Miss Lynch also had an early start to the day, heading off to Bathurst for the Western Region Dance Festival. Our Stage 3 dancers were very excited and it’s always a great experience to perform on the big stage and see all the other wonderful dancers from across Western region. Thank you to everyone who has helped the girls get organised for this occasion and to all our parents for travelling over to Bathurst to see the performance tonight.
Our athletics carnival is this Friday 16th June. All primary students and several Year 2 students who are competing in the track/ running events will need to be dropped at The Oval tomorrow morning before 8:45am. All buses will be directed to deliver students at The Oval. The carnival will commence at 9am and should be completed by lunch time and the students will then walk back to school. Please ensure all students have warm clothes and something to sit on. Spectators are welcome!
Thanks to Ms Laurie and parents for transporting our girls touch team to Orange last Friday. They came up against a very experienced team from Orange with several rep players, which was a great experience, and everyone had a great time.
I’m pleased to announce that will be having John Coutis will be visiting our school next week. John is an inspirational man who has faced adversity throughout his life. John ‘JC’ Coutis was born with a severe physical disability, which doctors gave him little chance of surviving. Not only did he defy the odds, but he has gone on to live a successful and fulfilling life. John will be speaking to our Stage 2 & 3 students next Wednesday morning as well as staff and parents from 8:30-9am in the library, all welcome!
Have a great week!
Kind regards
Sharon Hawker

Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
