Relieving Principal's Message
It was amazing to see so many of our families and friends join us for Open Day last week. The staff and students enjoyed having you at school and sharing in our students’ learning journeys.
Book Fair continues this week and is open between 8:30 and 9:50am each morning. The support shown for our Book Fair has been outstanding and we appreciate your support of this fundraising event.
This week we welcome Miss Lander back after her European holiday. We are so glad to see her and look forward to hearing about her adventures. Thank you to Mrs Pearce for the care and dedication shown to K/1 in Miss Lander’s absence.
Please book a time to see your child’s teacher at a 3 Way Conference. Bookings are made via the Sentral Parent Portal and need to be made by Monday 14th August. These conferences actively involve parents, students and teachers in reflecting on student progress and setting future goals. The conferences will be held next week in the school hall and we look forward to seeing many of you there.
The excitment is building for Book Week! Costumes are being planned and everyone is busy talking about books and characters. Staff and students will dress as a book character and participate in the book parade at 2pm on Friday 18th August. We hope many of our parents and carers can join us for the fun.
Today, Year 6 students will receive a packing list and additional information for their excursion to Berry. Keep an eye out for this, so you have plenty of time to get organised for the big trip.
On Friday this week, forty-two athletes are heading to Cowra to represent Canowindra Public School at the District Athletics Carnival. We wish them well and know they will try their best.
Have a great week Lauren Pengilly

Mural and Paver Path Opening
Education Week 2023 was an ideal time to celebrate the official opening of our paver path and mural on Level 3. The paver path was a P&C initiative conducted during Covid lockdowns and now forms a permanent feature of our school. We thank the many people who purchased a paver and contributed to this fundraiser. P&C representatives Kobie Rogers and Beth Gordon are pictured cutting the ribbon to officially open the path.

Student Support Officer News
Change, Loss and Grief Student Support
Sharon D'Elboux, our Student Support Officer, is trained in the delivery of Seasons For Growth. This small group program supports children and young people to adapt to experiences of change, loss and grief. The Seasons For Growth Program provides an opportunity for participants to learn the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to understand and respond well to such experiences.
Seasons For Growth creates a safe place for children to practice new ways of thinking and responding to the change that occurred in their lives.
If you and your family have been affected by change, loss or grief and think your child may benefit from additional support, please contact the school and Sharon will get in touch with you to further discuss the program.

Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
