Relieving Principal's Message
We have some exciting CPS news!! Mrs Howard and her husband Brad welcomed a little sister for Lottie yesterday afternoon. Isabella Grace has joined the Howard family and we wish them all well as they enjoy this special time. We can’t wait until they can visit us at school.
Many of our students have been excelling of late, especially in the sporting domain with some playing in grand finals and being acknowledged for their efforts at presentation ceremonies. A very special mention goes to Ava Thornberry who competed in the NSW Junior Swimming Titles last weekend. Her efforts were rewarded with a bronze medal after achieving a PB in the 50m freestyle with a time of 28.66 seconds. She also swam a time of 33.63 seconds in the 50m butterfly. Congratulations, Ava! We think you’re amazing and admire your achievements and dedication.
Good luck to the 26 students who will be attending the Western Athletics Carnival this Friday in Dubbo. A special thank you to Mrs Michelle Burn for training the relay teams after school. We really appreciate her support of our students and value her expertise.
I have recently spoken with several parents who were interested in knowing their child's current attendance percentage. For your interest, visit the Sentral Parent portal app > Click on your child's photo > Click on the ‘Student Details’ tab > Click the attendance link to see attendance percentages. Then click view attendance summary for further information. As always, attending school every day is very important and we thank you for your support in ensuring your child is at school as much as possible.
Year 4 are heading to The Blue Mountains with Mrs Swords and Ms Laurie tomorrow. This will be the first overnight excursion for many of these students and it has been lovely to see their excitement. Thank you to Ms Laurie and Mrs Swords for making this experience possible.
Have a great week. Lauren Pengilly

Peer Support Groups Chalk Drawings
The whole school worked together in Peer Support last week to complete brightly coloured chalk drawings on our playground. This is one of our most favourite activities of the year! Every child took part, helping one another to be creative and brighten our school!

Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week's class is : K/1
In K/1 we have been learning about 2D shapes. We made shapes using dry spaghetti and marshmallows. Through this activity, we could easily count how many sides and corners each shape had. We love to be creative learners who can see maths in everyday objects. MA1-2DS-01: Recognises, describes and represents shapes including quadrilaterals and other common polygons.
Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
