Relieving Principal's Message
It has been a very busy term, packed with lots of learning and many extra-curricular activities. I would like to thank our staff for organising and providing such amazing experiences for our students, often giving up much of their own time behind the scenes. Thank you also to the parents who support our school and students every day.
Western Primary Athletics Carnival Congratulations and well done to our students who competed in the Western Primary Athletics Carnival in Dubbo last week. Our athletes were: Ava Thornberry, Haylee Stanbury, Lucy Neville, Makk Bowman, Ruby Harris, Harry Sullivan-Webb, Thomas Trengove, Max Wilson, Thomas Nash, Lawson Hitchcock, Claire Pengilly, Freya McCaffery, Will Swords, Fletcher Duguid, Poppy James, Jay Burn, Mia Burn, Nate Wallace, Isabella Price, Noah Grey, Finn Grey and Macey Bates. I had the pleasure of attending as a mum on the day and was amazed by the level of talent and sheer determination shown by the athletes. Special mention goes to Jay and Freya who are off to Sydney in October to compete at a state level in the 100m and discus respectively.
Child Protection Lessons We are already looking forward to Term 4, with the calendar filling fast. An important part of our Health and Personal Development curriculum will be Child Protection lessons. Child Protection is a mandatory area of study for all students in NSW Government schools. These lessons teach children in an age appropriate way how to recognise abuse or unsafe situations and learn strategies for keeping themselves safe. Please contact your child's class teacher next term if you would like more information.
Reminder! School hats are a compulsory part of the school uniform. Students must wear a hat when outside. Hats can be purchased from the school office for $15.
We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on MONDAY 9th OCTOBER. There is no Staff Development Day at the beginning of Term 4. Please enjoy a safe and happy time over the school holidays. Lauren Pengilly

Whole School Peer Support Excursion - Tenpin Bowling and Adventure Playground
On Tuesday the 19th of September all teachers and students went to Orange for our annual peer support excursion. Students had the whole day with their peer support groups, led by Year 6 leaders and staff, and spent time ten-pin bowling and playing at the adventure playground at Orange Botanic Gardens. Ten-pin bowling was a big hit, and students loved improving their skills, with many spares and even a few strikes on the day! Students also loved spending time at the adventure playground, where everyone ate lunch and had a big run around.
A massive thank you to Miss Pritchard for arranging the excursion; everyone had a great day out in Orange! Our Year 6 peer support leaders must also be congratulated on working hard throughout the peer support program to lead their groups and set a great example for younger students. Well done everyone!

Year 2 - Crazy Hair Day this Friday
Year 2 will have a crazy hair day this Friday 22nd September as their reward for the winning PBL class at the Week 8 assembly. Students may wear their hair in any crazy way they choose as long as they are able to still wear their school hat.
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week's class is : 3/4B
Year 3/4B were learning about the square metre as a unit of measurement. They made their own square metre out of paper then used it to measure areas around the school.

Year 4 Blue Mountains Excursion
Day 1, On Thursday when we got to the Hartley historic site Jamie and Janelle showed us around the town. First we all went to church and Jamie told us what the church was made of and when it was built, next we went to the jail and he put us in there! He showed us how the walls were made of the strongest type of wood, and how people in jail went to the toilet too. After that we went into the courthouse and Jack Daily and Zoe were judges. Then after we had left we went to the Blackheath Cultural Centre and learnt about Aboriginal bush tucker and a coolamon, a boomerang and a woomera. We went on a walk and Jamie painted a snake on us with natural paint.
Day 2, On Friday after we woke up and had breakfast we went on a long walk and all the stops we had we got to see the Three Sisters and we walked all the way to Scenic World but we also got to see the Katoomba falls. The first thing we went on was the Scenic railway which is the steepest railway ever, next we went on a little walk around, and to go back up we went on the cable car. Next, we went down and back on the Skyrail and last but not least we went shopping and I got some chocolate and a little koala. It was the best excursion ever!

Wear Red Day
Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
