Relieving Principal's Message
What an amazing response to the P&C Art Show last weekend!!! It was wonderful to see the work of every child in the school displayed in such a creative, professional manner. Students were so proud to know their artworks had been seen by so many members of the public and even more amazed to know their work had been purchased. I would like to publicly thank the huge effort made by so many to make this event a success, especially our students, staff, parents and our P&C along with their many helpers. Thank you also to the businesses and community members who supported this event.
After this week, Mrs Pearce starts long service leave for the remainder of this year and will return in 2024 as a highly sought after casual teacher. Thank you to Mrs Kathy Wright who will be replacing Mrs Pearce on Tuesdays.
Please notify the school if you are not receiving emails. Our weekly newsletter is our main source of information and it is vital that all students and their families receive this communication via email each week.
Tell Them From Me Survey
Please take the time to complete the parent survey. We really do value your thoughts and ideas. So far we have only had 4 parents respond to the survey. We'd love some more!! The survey will take about 10 to 15 minutes. Follow the link http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/can
Hats Off To Teachers
This week Australia will celebrate the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day. This is a day to celebrate and be proud of our teachers. Our school is very lucky to have such a dedicated and highly professional staff that deeply care about our students, making sure their academic and wellbeing needs are at the centre of all their decisions. I could not be more proud of the staff at our school! As a token of our appreciation and a surprise for our teachers, students are encouraged to wear a different hat (not uniform- eg a beret, a bowler, a cowboy hat) to school TOMORROW to give a 'hats off to teachers'. Photos of them wearing their hats will be published on our Facebook page on Friday.
Year 3 Excursion
Our Year 3 students are travelling to the Parkes Telescope on Friday. Please note students need to be ready to leave school at 8:50am and need to take a water bottle and a packed recess and lunch.
School Fete
Our annual school fete is being held Friday 3rd November 1pm to 3pm. Each class are manning a stall and the P&C have organised many different visitors and activities to entertain the students. Everyone is welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you there!
Sentral Finance
The time has come for us to change financial platforms. After Wednesday 1st November, payments will be able to be made through the Sentral for parents app (as well as the office and our website). Payments cannot be made until the new platform is active.
2024
Planning for 2024 is starting to take place. This complex process is made much easier if our administration staff have accurate student enrolment figures for 2024. We ask that you notify the school as soon as possible of impending student departures from Canowindra Public School. Also, if you have a child starting Kindergarten next year, please complete the online enrolment process via our school website.

School Fete
The annual school fete is being held on Friday 3rd November. The school will be a hive of activity from 1-3pm with face painting, sponge throwing, many other stalls, visits from emergency services, NRL, cricket and The Age of Fishes. Everyone is welcome!!

Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
