Relieving Principal's Message
Week 4 is here! The term is zooming past.
This week is a busy one, with lots of additional activities organised. Our annual School Fete is on Friday 3rd November starting at 1pm. P&C have organised lots of activities and a lunch meal deal for the students to enjoy. Orders for lunches were due today. Each class has organised a stall, including face painting, lucky dips, cake stall, sponge throwing etc. Prices for each stall start at 20c. We hope to see many of our families and friends at the fete.
Tomorrow sees our students in Kinder, Year 1 and 2 attend the Musica Viva performance. Year 5 and 6 students are travelling to Forbes to attend a community engagement day hosted by Boys to the Bush. Please note the buses for Year 5 and 6 are leaving the school at 8:15am!
The weather lately seems to be playing havoc with hay fever and asthma. Please ensure the school is informed of your child's medical needs, this includes providing us asthma plans and treatment requirements. Asthma medication must be kept safe at the office, as young children require support to administer their medication and will be monitored to ensure they don't need further medical assistance. Please help us in supporting your child's medical conditions by contacting the school and ensuring their needs are managed safely and effectively.
There are only 2 days left to complete the Parent Tell Them From Me survey. So far, we only have 6 responses! We really urge you to take 10 minutes to complete this survey. We sincerely thank those who have already submitted their responses. The link to the survey is http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/can

On Wednesday, 25th of October, I went to NSW PSSA State Athletics to compete in Discus. I didn't throw until 3:30pm. Out of all of my throws, my last throw was the best, I threw 20.01m, I got 26th out of 38. It was a great experience.

On Tuesday, I left to go to Sydney for PSSA State Championships. We stayed at Rydges, Parramatta.
On Wednesday, I ran at Sydney Olympic Park in the 12yrs boys 100m, heat 3, and I came 7th in my heat and just missed out on the semi finals on Thursday. I ran a 14.05 which is not a PB but overall I came 30th out of 40.

Year 3 Parkes Telescope Excursion
On Friday, Year 3 went to Parkes to see the dish. It was mammoth! First we went to have some recess then have a very quick play on the playground. Then we went inside. A nice lady was explaining what to do because we were about to do a scavenger hunt, but school style. Everybody had a lot of fun with the scavenger hunt. We all learned some new things as we went along. Then we came back inside and the wonderful lady said, “Please grab some 3D glasses.” I was overjoyed! We went inside the movie theatre and it looked like the moon was right in front of me. Then we packed up and went to a different park. It was amazing! There was a flying fox, a huge slippery dip and swings! Then we packed up and went back to school. We had such a great day!

All of the Year 3’s went to explore the giant dish in Parkes. When we got to school we put our bags down in the bus bay ready to catch the bus. After every single one of us were here we boarded the bus on the way to the humongous Dish. One hour later we arrived after all of the noise on the bus. Then we went to the park that had a nice close up view of the dish then we ate our recess. After we ate our recess we started the fantastic scavenger hunt. It was challenging at first but it got way easier as we got through the numbers. Then we put on these cool 3D glasses to get ready to watch a 3D movie. It was really cool to see the stars and planets coming towards us. Then after the movie ended we all got back on the bus and went to a great park then headed back to school, and yes another long, loud journey. In the end we got back to school and we could finally go home.

Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
