Relieving Principal's Message
Thank you to our school leaders: Georgia, Pippa, Claire, Will, Tom and Riley for representing our school at the local Remembrance Day Service last Saturday where they laid a wreath to honour and pay respect to our servciepeople. As we paused for a minute silence, our thoughts turned to war's enormous cost and the toll it takes, not only on those who fall but on all who serve.
We were fortunate to have 5 food hampers donated and delivered to school by the Canowindra Connections Centre. All 125 family names were entered into a random selection generator. Congratulations to the five families who were announced the lucky recipients. Special thanks to the Canowindra Connections Centre for their generosity.
Flood Funds
All money issued under the flood recovery scheme will be retracted on the 19th December if left unspent. If you are curious to know if you have funds remaining, please contact the school office for further information. PLEASE NOTE if you have a child currently in Year 4, paperwork is being sent home today regarding the purchase of chromebooks for 2024. If you have surplus flood funds and would like to use the balance to pay a contribution towards your child's computer, please notify the school before 1st December.
Transition Programs
Our 2024 Kinder students have completed their transition program. Throughout the program, students participated in a range of experiences to familiarise them with the school. It is safe to say that the students were very settled and are super excited about starting 'big school'. We'll see all of our Kinder students for their Best Start assessment at the beginning of February.
Our Year 6 students are spending their third full day at Canowindra High today. They have enjoyed experiencing high school life, including a taste of many subjects and meeting new people. A parent and student bbq is the last part of this program and will be held on Wednesday 29th November.
S.R.E and S.E.E
Yesterday saw the final SRE (Special Religious Education) and SEE (Special Education in Ethics) sessions for the year. We sincerly thank our volunteers who facilitate these sessions each week for our students.
Keep up to date
As we move towards the end of the school year, school life becomes very busy with many extra activities and events. Please make sure your Sentral Parent app notifications are turned on and you continue to read the newsletter for important information and upcoming events.
Swimming
The first of our swimming programs begin this Friday. All primary students (Years 3-6) swim for sport every Friday for the rest of this term. Intensive swimming starts next week for all of Year 2 and some selected primary students. Students participating in the intensive swimming program will attend the pool for 10 days over the next two weeks. Swimming is a very important skill to have and it is vital that each person has the ability to navigate the water safely. Please help your child to be prepared each day with their swimming gear and ensure payment is made to cover the pool entry.
P&C Christmas Dinner
The P&C Christmas gathering is on Monday night 4th December, 6:30pm at Eddies of Canowindra. All parents and carers are welcome to attend, see invitation in the newsletter. Should be a great night, looking forward to seeing you all there!

Staff Profile
Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
