Relieving Principal's Message
Welcome to Week 7. It’s hard to believe that we have less than 4 weeks left of the school year. We have had a lot of memorable events this year and there is still more to come. Our school is an exciting hub of activity. I walk around and hear students excited about swimming and upcoming events. I see everyone still engaged in their regular learning and even though things get busy, it is important to maintain routine and expectations as much as possible. I am so very proud of our 'Safe, Respectful and Responsible' learners.
Swim School has started this week. The children all still smiling when they
return to school and are excited to tell me they are loving their time at the pool and some think their swimming skills are already improving. Thank you for helping to ensure your child is ready every day with their swimming gear. Please note the school has covered the costs of the professional instructors but pool entry needs to be paid. The school can accept cash, but can not process these payments via eftpos or online facilities, all money goes directly to the pool.
Year 6 Burrendong Excursion is fast approaching, thank you to everyone who has registered, final payment is due in by 4th December. Keep an eye on Sentral Parent app for payment details.
Our school aims to have everyone at school at least 95% of the time. In Week 6, Year 1 smashed our attendance data out of the park! Awesome effort!!
Kinder | 88.6% |
Year 1 | 97.2% |
Year 2 | 94.4% |
Year 3 | 91.6% |
Year 4 | 85.0% |
Year 5 | 91.8% |
Year 6 | 92.5% |
Last week also saw an increase in the number of students who attended school 100% of the time. The whole school will enjoy a reward of extra time in the playground.
The Tell Them From Me student survey indicated a need for more shade on Level 2, so you will notice the addition of new umbrellas in the playground. Thank you to Jade Berkrey for installing these for us.
Enjoy your week!

Flood Funding $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
All remaining flood funding provided by the state government in 2023 to support families with schooling expenses will be retracted on the 19th December. We are restricted on how these funds can be used. Some ideas:
- Year 6 students can use any remaining money towards their Burrendong camp
- In preparation for next year, Year 4 students can make a payment towards owning their own chromebook (laptop) **
- Students in Year 5 and 6 can still make payments towards their chromebooks, if they haven't already done so, in preparation to take them to high school.
- Other students can use remaining funds to purchase uniforms and schoolbags. So make the most of this opportunity and prepare for growth spurts, purchase a spare hat or jumper, or get organised for children who are not yet enrolled.
**If you would like to use the funds to pay for your child's chromebook, you need to notify the office of your intentions before 1st December. If you know someone with children currently in Year 4, please mention this to them as it is a great way to spend their remaining funds and save money in the future.
If you would like to know your remaining balance of funds, please contact the school. If you don't use it, you'll lose it!
Library Books
As we approach the end of the year, it is now time to return all library books. Stocktake will be happening from next week,so borrowing will not occur. Please send all library books back to school as soon as possible.
Boys to the Bush
Last Tuesday a very lucky bunch of our students participated in our most recent Boys to the Bush program. We feel very fortunate to be invited to be a part of this program. Our students headed off via minibus to Forbes and joined in some community-initiative tasks with enthusiasm and diligence. The boys demonstrated effective teamwork and a commendable work ethic. They also enjoyed a spot of fishing at Bundaburrah Creek and a trip to McDonalds for lunch.
All of the boys thoroughly enjoyed their day and have excitedly looked forward to their next opportunity to focus on the program's core values of 'Community, Engagement and Respect'. Hopefully we'll have another report for you in next week's newsletter.

Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
