Relieving Principal's Message
The term is moving very quickly. Despite lots of additional activities, students are still learning so it is important for them to maintain attendance as the school year draws to a close. Students are expected to remember and practise our school expectations of being safe, respectful and responsible learners. Please have a conversation with your child/children reminding them of their best behaviour to see the year out with positive outcomes for all.
Swim School reaches its conclusion this Friday. Students should be very proud of the progress they have made under the guidance of qualified instructors. The end of swim school leads nicely into the final two weeks of school where units of work are completed, reports sent home, end of year activities are held including: class parties, Year 6 farewell and our Presentation Day celebrations. Swimming for primary sport will continue every Friday for the rest of the term.
FLOOD FUNDS
Remember to make the most of your Flood Funds before the end of the term. If your child is in Year 4, 5 or 6 and you would like to use the balance of funds to go towards paying off your child’s chromebook, PLEASE notify the school by 1st December via a phonecall or email to the office.
HATS
Remember now that the temperature and UV rays are rising, a school bucket hats is an essential part of the school uniform. School hats are available at the office for $15 each. A student who has no hat is not removed from the playground, instead they play in a shaded area on Level 1. A school bucket hat is the best tool for gaining access to the whole playground. Flood funds can be used to purchase hats and uniforms before the end of the school year.
SCHOOL REPORTS
It is a mandatory requirement that students receive two written academic school reports each year. Teachers are very busy aligning assessment results, student learning goals and comments to Key Learning Areas. Reports will be generated on the Sentral Parent Portal in Week 10.
BURRENDONG EXCURSION
Year 6 Burrendong Excursion is fast approaching, thank you to everyone who has registered and paid. Final payment is due in by 4th December.
Our school aims to have everyone at school at least 95% of the time. In Week 7, three grades exceeded this goal!
Kinder | 89.8% |
Year 1 | 94.4% |
Year 2 | 96.2% |
Year 3 | 96.5% |
Year 4 | 91.2% |
Year 5 | 97.0% |
Year 6 | 85.5% |
This week we welcome Hayley Stephens from Canowindra High School. Hayley is an ex CPS student and she is on work experience. We hope she enjoys her week and becomes inspired to pursue teaching as a career.

Flood Funding $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
All remaining flood funding provided by the state government in 2023 to support families with schooling expenses will be retracted on the 19th December. We are restricted on how these funds can be used. Some ideas:
- Year 6 students can use any remaining money towards their Burrendong camp
- In preparation for next year, Year 4 students can make a payment towards owning their own chromebook (laptop) **
- Students in Year 5 and 6 can still make payments towards their chromebooks, if they haven't already done so, in preparation to take them to high school.
- Other students can use remaining funds to purchase uniforms and schoolbags. So make the most of this opportunity and prepare for growth spurts, purchase a spare hat or jumper, or get organised for children who are not yet enrolled.
**If you would like to use the funds to pay for your child's chromebook, you need to notify the office of your intentions before 1st December. If you know someone with children currently in Year 4, please mention this to them as it is a great way to spend their remaining funds and save money in the future.
If you would like to know your remaining balance of funds, please contact the school. If you don't use it, you'll lose it!
Library Books
As we approach the end of the year, it is now time to return all library books. Stocktake will be happening from next week,so borrowing will not occur. Please send all library books back to school as soon as possible.
Swimming for Sport - Yrs 3 to 6
Swimming for Sport runs each Friday till the end of term.
There are two groups, Group 1 consists of Year 3 and Year 4 students - 10am till 11am, Group 2 consists of Year 5 and Year 6 students - 12pm till 1pm.
Students will walk to and from the pool each Friday, students should bring a swimming costume, a towel, a rash shirt or T-shirt, school hat and warm clothing (on cool days). These need to be brought to school every Friday. Phone calls to parents will not be made requesting forgotten items. The cost of pool entry is $3.20 and this MUST be paid to the class teacher each Friday (unless a season pass is held).

Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
