Relieving Principal's Message
Our end of year celebrations are beginning today with Year 6 heading to Burrendong Sport and Rec camp. This is an experience our Year 6 students look forward to every year. Many other events are planned over the next week. Please keep an eye on the Sentral parent app for details about what is happening for your child, what they'll need to bring, wear etc
Presentation Day
Our Presentation Day celebrations will be held next Tuesday 12th December commencing at 9:30am in the school hall. This occasion celebrates the achievements of all our students with a focus on our major awards recipients. If a child in your family is receiving an award on the day, a message was sent via the Sentral parent app yesterday to invite you to attend. All parents and carers of students in Year 6 are also encouraged to attend their child's last formal event at primary school. As seating will be limited, we encourage you to bring a camp chair to sit on during the awards ceremony. Students must wear their full summer uniform, including black school shoes.
School Leaders for 2024
It has been very pleasing to note that all current Year 5 students were willing to run for school leader positions in 2024. The nomination process has proven how well respected these students are, with all students receiving a collection of votes. After initial nominations, the students were shortlisted and these students presented their speeches to the school on Monday morning. Each student addressed their audience with conviction and sincerity, overcoming nerves and making voting a very difficult job. They should be very proud of their efforts! Captains and Prefects for 2024 will be announced on Presentation Day.
Class Parties
To celebrate the end of the school year, students in Years 3-6 will enjoy a pool party next Wednesday 13th December and those in K-2 will visit Morris Park for a play on Thursday 14th December. Please see the Sentral parent app for more information and to provide permission for your children to attend.
Reports
Student reports will be available on the Sentral portal app in Week 10. Keep an eye on your notifications. Should you have any questions regarding your child's report, contact the school office to arrange an appointment with your child's teacher.
Classes for 2024
Students will be advised of their new teacher for 2024 on their first day back at school next year. Classes are being drafted now, but are subject to change if there are new enrolments or last minutes changes to staff. By waiting until next year to make this announcement it helps to avoid disappointment, should unavoidable last minute changes need to be made. We thank you for your understanding and I am sure you can appreciate the time and effort we put into forming classes each year.
Keep cool this week as the temperature rises!

Boys to the Bush Report
For their third session of Boys to the Bush, the Year 4 group headed to Orange. The wet weather prompted a shift in their plans, so they decided to headed to tenpin bowling, the Adventure Playground, had a game of touch football, a trip to the top of Mt Canobolas and a play in the park in Cargo. Brad and Koby from Boys to the Bush reported the boys' behaviour was fantastic and a great day was had by all.
Belmore Street Gate
Help to keep our kids safe by parking along the school side of the street in Belmore and Charlotte Street. The footpath allows the children to walk safely to your car or you can walk to the gate and meet them. Let's avoid crossing the road and double parking where possible.
Flood Funding $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
All remaining flood funding provided by the state government in 2023 to support families with schooling expenses will be retracted on the 19th December. We are restricted on how these funds can be used. Some ideas:
- In preparation for next year, Year 4 students can make a payment towards owning their own chromebook (laptop) **
- Students in Year 5 and 6 can still make payments towards their chromebooks, if they haven't already done so, in preparation to take them to high school.
- Other students can use remaining funds to purchase uniforms and schoolbags. So make the most of this opportunity and prepare for growth spurts, purchase a spare hat or jumper, or get organised for children who are not yet enrolled.
**If you would like to use the funds to pay for your child's chromebook, you need to notify the office of your intentions. If you know someone with children currently in Year 4, please mention this to them as it is a great way to spend their remaining funds and save money in the future.
If you would like to know your remaining balance of funds, please contact the school. If you don't use it, you'll lose it!
Library Books
As we approach the end of the year, it is now time to return all library books. Stocktake is happening, so borrowing will not occur. Please send all library books back to school as soon as possible.
Swimming for Sport - Yrs 3 to 6
Swimming for Sport runs each Friday till the end of term.
There are two groups, Group 1 consists of Year 3 and Year 4 students - 10am till 11am, Group 2 consists of Year 5 and Year 6 students - 12pm till 1pm.
Students will walk to and from the pool each Friday, students should bring a swimming costume, a towel, a rash shirt or T-shirt, school hat and warm clothing (on cool days). These need to be brought to school every Friday. Phone calls to parents will not be made requesting forgotten items. The cost of pool entry is $3.20 and this MUST be paid to the class teacher each Friday (unless a season pass is held).
Class in Focus
Each week one of our classes will be chosen to showcase the great learning that is happening in our school. This week our class is: 5/6 Blue
This term, 5/6B have been organising sound into musical compositions, as well as listening to our own and others music. Our favourite part is getting to use the 'boomwhackers'. We also have been very lucky to have 3 students from our class bring in their musical instruments to share with us.
MUS3.2 - improvises, experiments, selects, combines and orders sound using musical concepts.
Staff Profile
Attendance - Every day matters
We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.
When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.
If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.
Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.
While COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses are around especially during the winter months, schools will continue to use COVID-smart measures to minimise the risk of transmission.
If your child is unwell they will need to stay home, get tested for COVID-19 if they are experiencing symptomsExternal link and only return to school when symptom free.
Please contact the school if your child needs to miss school for any reason, so we can plan continued support for your child’s learning and wellbeing.
