Week 3 Term 1 Newsletter 2024
Principal's Message
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the swimming carnival last Friday. It was a great day with lots of students participating for the first time and many others swimming PB’s. Many thanks to Miss Dixon and primary staff for another well organised event and thanks to all our parents who helped on the day. There is a full report in this week’s newsletter, including swimming champions and district carnival information.
I’d like to give a very warm welcome to Meghan Colebourne who is our new school counsellor this year. Meghan will be working at our school on Thursdays and will be supported by Lang Watkins (counsellor in training) as well as Sharon D’Elboux who continues as our Student Support Officer for this year.
Communication is key to a happy and harmonious school. Therefore, in order to minimise the variety of platforms on offer, all of our school communication will be sent via email or the Sentral Parent Portal App. From now on, all class teachers will be delivering key messages through these channels. Please make sure you have the notifications turned on or you check the app regularly for notifications. Third party communication channels will no longer be used by our school due to DoE regulations.
At the beginning of every school year we are required to have emergency drills. If your child comes home and mentions that there was an evacuation or a lockdown, this will be a practice. If it is a real emergency, the school will let parents know via our communication channels.
There are several pieces of excess furniture and a built in BBQ plate which we are giving way. Please see the photos in the newsletter and contact the office if you are interested. They are free to a good home!
Have a great week!
Kind regards,
Sharon Hawker

Everyone desesrves to feel safe at school
This term, you will notice new posters around the school that aim to help support a safe and respectful culture at our school.
These posters are part of an initiative to remind everybody to treat our hard-working school staff with kindness and respect. Every school community around the state is very different. While most schools are respectful and harmonious, violence and unsafe behaviour in any form is not acceptable in schools. School staff and students have the right to learn and work in safe and respectful learning environments.
With that in mind, we encourage you to join everyone at our school in getting behind this important work to make a positive change.
We value our partnerships with you to support our students to learn, grow, and belong. It is up to us – the school and the parent-body - to be good respectful role models to our students. Together, we can create a safe and harmonious environment for our students and staff.
We hope you will support this initiative. What do you need to do? It is easy: Please treat our students and staff with kindness and respect, at all times. We are here to help you.
